Agree with everything except the owners being manipulated. These contracts are like buying a million dollar home that increases in value 15% a year and your maintenance yearly is about $15k.

I'm a lifelong Yankee fan. If I were betting on organizational success over the next 20 years, I'd take the Mets over the Yankees. The Steinbrenners are trying to make money on the Yankees. Cohen is trying to win. The Yankees will be fine, but the years of the Mets struggling are probably over. And I like Citi Field better than Yankee Stadium.
Here's an interesting chart to your point on Cohen's spending. He's spending a lot and he's making the least amount for what he spends, meaning he's spending to build a winner not to line his pockets.
The contract comes with the territory, your under a microscope every day, for anything you do or don't do. Arod dealt with media backlash every day and even got hatred from Yankee fans, there's still Yankee fans to this day who don't accept him as a Yankee even though he won them a World Series and won 2 MVPs.
Soto leaving whatever, I was far more pissed Hal never signed Bryce Harper and he didn't even go all in last year with Soto as a rental. Team ignored their fundamentals and it did cost them a World Series last year.
Why did you leave out the cheating that the Astros used to beat the Yankees. They felt they had to cheat and we can only prove it for that one year. Who really knows how much it happened. He was sitting on slider when no one was sitting on Chapman’s slider no one and Chapman knew it as soon as he hit the ball. He had that yeah right look on his face like all of us have had toward the refs in most UConn games.
No doubt what the Astros did was shameful, but it's been how many years now and the Yankees have failed to show up in the postseason since. The Nationals and Braves beat the Astros in the World Series. The excuses by Hal and Cashman are pathetic.
I'm sure his prime will last a lot longer than that but what is his prime supposed to look like? He's been in the league 8 seasons now and he doesn't hit for average. It's nice that he has a great eye and some pop but for a dude who is strictly a batter/hitter and getting paid $765 million over 15 seasons you would hope he would hit the ball better than he does.

Most importantly, Cohen spent to get a real pro to run the front office. The Mets are in good hands. Well-run and spending money. The anti-Red Sox.
