Considering how much he struggles against physical on ball defense this isn’t the game best suited for him. Much rather have Diarra out there and it was the right call given how Diarra was able to get into the lane and score.

They’ve needed to shorten the rotation, and unfortunately for Joey C, his minutes are easiest to cut.

I still think he’ll have his moments on certain nights, but his shot has been off for a while now and he just doesn’t bring enough defensively.

Diarra's box score wasn't great but him and Andre played great games overall and were key for our run to put it away. Hawkins was our main (and only) scoring threat. Not many minutes for Joey C when your PG-SF are the guys winning you the game

As someone noted a week or so ago looks like our rotations are set with spot minutes going to Diarra or Cal depending on matchups and definitely playing a defensive-minded player like diarra makes more sense against seton hall. I'd expect him to play against lower quality defenses

He’s a mid-major guy who got exposed in conference play.

Played really well against Georgetown in December and is like 25% on three point shots since. I don’t think he’s gotten to the free throw line since like Christmas and his perimeter defense is notably bad on a team where perimeter defense is already pretty lousy.

Joey is going to have a really hard time getting minutes with the way the Big East refs let guards hand check and drape themselves all over offensive players.
Seton Hall had 40 points with 6 minutes left. Hard to understand how the commissioner thinks this is an attractive style of ball.

The officiating is so inconsistent.

You can absolutely maul Sanogo and you can hand check the crap out of Hawkins.

But neither of those two can stick out a hand or they will get whistled.

Refs left SH do whatever they wanted for most of the game…and then a switch flipped and Seton Hall started to get quick whistles. Not sure how players are supposed to play when the line moves so suddenly mid-game.

Davis never took his hands off of Hawkins when guarding him totally agree. Hand checks are king with the Hall and somehow allowable. Big time inconsistency going on.

I don't know what to think about all this. A few years ago they said they would not impede movement any more and they would call these fouls.

Now, I don't like to see games with a lot of fouls, but it's clear the BE refs allow a lot of stuff not called in other conferences.

Im convinced this is the disparity in UConn's success out of conference.

We now have defenses preventing our ball handlers from getting spots they need to get to in order to get into their offense.

The only counter would be to drive, but we can't seem to do that
