Jay Wright Retiring?

Good for Jay. 60 is in the realm of retirement age. He has accomplishment, plenty of $, good for him to move on and make way for the next wave.

Funny we consider Dan Hurley “young” and he’s 48. Coach K got the Duke job at 30. Times have changed

Did lebron make a phone call?
Jay Wright, Magneto and Professor X wouldn’t solve the Lakers issues. That’s not a coaching issue, that’s a Geritol issue.

Kyle Neptune being Kevin Ollie would be funny. There is still a lot of talent there atm.

Well some good news from this is now it’ll be easier to treat Villanova like a rival. My respect for Wright made it tough to build up real heat before a game against them…and I pulled for them in the tourney a lot.

Wow, stunning. I guess he figured he didn't have anything left to accomplish.

Good for him for choosing to enjoy this phase of his life instead of working himself to death. Watching Boeheim, K, etc., he probably realized he didn't want to be one of them.

.-.
He’ll be coaching Duke in three years after Scheyer flames out.

Book it.
Then people will really start to hate Duke even more because if Mr GQ takes over there, they will be consistently high performers, even better than in the last few years.

glad we finally beat him this year didnt realize it was our last shot...

but thank you jay for winning 2 chips and keeping the conference among the p6 during our hiatus. we'll take it from here.

The Nova people think Whitmore is going to bolt now. Either to his previous suitors Kentucky or Illinois.

heard a rumor btw, not sure on the accuracy but some serious abuse allegations were on the verge of coming out against jay wright for what he's done to xavier university. the evidence (a 16-2 record against the lil angry bluemen) is truly damning
Really? Wow. I have to check the match ups when I have time. That is complete ownership of another team. Usually in a head-to-head rivalry it happens for a 4-5 seasons at worst and then the other team gets the better end and then it goes back and forth in a continuous cycle. Xavier would only be so lucky for that, damn 2-16 against Nova.

Curious if he'll take some sort of (light) broadcasting role. Networks are going to be beating down his door. But yeah, he's made his money, he's accomplished a ton. Disappointed to see him go but totally understand it.
Depends the reason(s) he retired. If it's to spend more time with the family, I could only see him taking a few games a year like Jim Calhoun used to do, but not like a Steve Lavin.

me, too. It broke my basketball heart when Justin Moore tore his achilles.

From Tom Pecora- "He's just had enough. Not a health issue or anything."
That's good to hear as he made the decision as opposed to another factor(s) making the decision for him.

Probably. One with minimal travel. Could see him covering the Big East tournament Cannot seeing him taking a TV deal where he doesn’t have absolute control over when and where he works.
