From Tom Pecora- "He's just had enough. Not a health issue or anything."Hopefully all is well with he and his family and he’s only retiring to retired or to pursue an NBA job.
Or novelashe's definitely going to be on TV. whether that's commentary or the studio is another question
He is a good dude. We whipped him at the beginning of his tenure at Nova. Wright was 1-7 against UConn and JC and I remember him always being very complimentary of how hard our guys played. Definitely a loss for the leagueAgreed. I've never liked a coach so much who whipped our *** so regularly
Then people will really start to hate Duke even more because if Mr GQ takes over there, they will be consistently high performers, even better than in the last few years. He’ll be coaching Duke in three years after Scheyer flames out.
Book it.
PillageWe gotta steal at least someone from that roster or that was going to be going there.
I am not sure which board you are talking about, but Villanova SB Nation usually gets a lot of commenters.I want to read the Nova board but it's behind a damn paywall. Anyone know a way around it?
Really? Wow. I have to check the match ups when I have time. That is complete ownership of another team. Usually in a head-to-head rivalry it happens for a 4-5 seasons at worst and then the other team gets the better end and then it goes back and forth in a continuous cycle. Xavier would only be so lucky for that, damn 2-16 against Nova.heard a rumor btw, not sure on the accuracy but some serious abuse allegations were on the verge of coming out against jay wright for what he's done to xavier university. the evidence (a 16-2 record against the lil angry bluemen) is truly damning
LmaooooMy buddy hadn't heard of this but his response was "Lakers?" He's going to reach out to his brother in law and get the scoop.
Depends the reason(s) he retired. If it's to spend more time with the family, I could only see him taking a few games a year like Jim Calhoun used to do, but not like a Steve Lavin.Curious if he'll take some sort of (light) broadcasting role. Networks are going to be beating down his door. But yeah, he's made his money, he's accomplished a ton. Disappointed to see him go but totally understand it.
me, too. It broke my basketball heart when Justin Moore tore his achilles.Well some good news from this is now it’ll be easier to treat Villanova like a rival. My respect for Wright made it tough to build up real heat before a game against them…and I pulled for them in the tourney a lot.
That's good to hear as he made the decision as opposed to another factor(s) making the decision for him. From Tom Pecora- "He's just had enough. Not a health issue or anything."
Couldn’t take seeing us reel in Newton and Alleyne. With that and the Castle reclass he knew he was done. Timing is definitely not a coincidence. From Tom Pecora- "He's just had enough. Not a health issue or anything."
CalhounMount Rushmore of Big East Coaches. Go
Probably. One with minimal travel. Could see him covering the Big East tournament Cannot seeing him taking a TV deal where he doesn’t have absolute control over when and where he works.Curious if he'll take some sort of (light) broadcasting role. I hope there aren't health issues involved.Love it. Not because his retirement would strengthen our position. It would do the opposite. It would weaken the league and thus hurt us. I love it when work doesn't control someone's life. I don't like watching these coaches stick around until they are almost 80. I wish they had other things going on. Something else they want to do while they are on this planet. You only live once.
He would be paid millions to a ”Wright-cast” from his basement.Probably. One with minimal travel. Could see him covering the Big East tournament Cannot seeing him taking a TV deal where he doesn’t have absolute control over when and where he works.
Or he just got Thibodeux fired.I doubt he'll go to the NBA and if he does it wont be the Lakers.
I was told by someone who was friends with his wife (a woman I briefly dated not quite five years ago) that he promised his better half that he would only live in Philly or NY.
If the Nets or 76ers job opens up, ascboth teams are built for a run, he may be tempted there but there will still be a strong likelyhood that he'll decline the opportunity to coach that many egos.
