Sad news for sure. Norman was an athletic 6'5" guard that went up against the big dogs in our early Big East days. With Earl Kelly and Al Fredericks we had some great talent but the competition was unreal. RIP Norman.

Bailey and Fredericks were my first two favorite Huskies.

Sad news, Norman Bailey passed away
Sad, obviously I am a huge Earl Kelly fan, but Norman Bailey was one hell of player in his own right. Love to all his teammates and family.

Shabazz back in Europe

It blows me away to this day he has not been a back-up PG in the NBA the last two seasons. He was great off the bench and always filled in admirably whenever he needed to step into the starting line-up. There are much worse back-ups currently toiling away in the league, it just doesn't make sense.

Love going out to Alvin for his loss

RIP Norman and sorry to Al F.

Bailey put UConn on the ESPN map for sure. I played against Al in community college he was not only a great player but a gentleman!

They were great, but 75-76 team hooked me - Hanson, Abro, Whelton

Yep Kathy loved that 75-76 team as well. Add Al Weston a bomber, John Thomas that almost had 14 boards a game and Jeff Carr a space eater they had a great year. I was at the Springfield CC for the final of the ECAC championship when they beat a real good Friar team with Joey Hassett as well as 2 CT studs in Soup Campbell and Billy Eason. Nice win over a very talented Hofstra team only to lose to an undefeated Rutgers team.

But the real hook for me was 1969-70 the Bobby Staak, Freddie Mallon and Ron Hrubala team. Dad took me to a few games that year at the Field House and I was getting prepared for the Boneyard right then!

With former Woodstock Academy guard Noah Fernandes (13.4p, 4.1a) out for the last few weeks for UMass, Rahsool Diggins has stepped up and started at PG the last five games averaging:

8.8p, 3.4a, 1.8s, 36.4 2p% and 40.9 3p% in 25.6 mpg.

I was hooked at a young age listening on my clock radio with the volume down so my mother would not hear to Toby Kimball, Ron Ritter, Bill Halowaty and one of my all time favorites Dan "The Spider" Hesford. Then Wes Bialosuknia arrived and my love affair with the Huskies really blossomed.
