Florida will go from allowing 106 against Kentucky to whatever they finish with here. Those defensive drills in practice the last couple days should be sold for big money.
Florida's defense in the paint has been astounding. I don't know if they'e given up more than 2pts under the basket in 2nd half. Surprised Tenn managed to break 40. IMO, that was worse than any game a ranked UConn squad has played since Louisville in '14. Embarrassing for Barnes.

Also, Todd Golden looks like a grad assistant. Maybe he's the new Brad Stephens.

Brea is a slightly taller Calcaterra. Not taking anything away from Joey C, but people acting like Brea is a huge miss is crazy to me. He can’t create at all and is a liability on d
He’s 6’7” so significantly taller - and is projected to have one of the most efficient 3 point shooting seasons in a couple decades. So not really.

But he is limited on defense and in creating shots. He’s just had an off game.

Deservedly, lead the metrics by a mile. Two away games this week, but vs bottom half SEC teams.

Right now Duke and Auburn look like they’re on a collision course. Duke may not lose in the ACC, and will only get better. Auburn also has a top freshman that will only get better, along with the best player in the country.
I just can't see Pearl holding it together to actually win an NC.

It’s been amazing how quietly all the stalker allegations disappeared with him. Great PR team.

I hesitate to predict “most efficient shooters in decades” off of 14 games. After tonight he’ll be back under 50% likely. One more bad game and he’s below Ball. Let’s wait on historic declarations when we’re 2 games into conference play

Maybe that's why he thought it was a good idea to be hanging around with them and undergrads. ;)

Pearl got the final against Virginia with Auburn. This Auburn team has a higher KP than we did last year.
Semifinal against Virginia in 2019. Auburn looks damn good though. Let's see how they do. They will hit a rough patch because the SEC has so many good teams

Texas with 0 assists and 9 turnovers with 1 minute left in the half. AD needs to punt this goofball Terry the second their season ends with a first round NIT exit.

He may be the worst high major coach in college hoops. That win is going to be value-less by end of SEC play. I wouldn’t be shocked if Texas finishes with 3-4 wins in league play.

Yeah the shine is being knocked off of that Texas win with the way Auburn is dismantling Texas now. The announcers are comparing this Auburn team to last year's UConn team.

They aren’t last years UConn team and not close. Broome would have been neutralized completely. It actually would have been fun to have met them in the S16 instead of SDSU. They’re good and they’re deep and if there is any team that can run away with the SEC it’s them.

Marquette wasn’t impressive tonight - this looks like the same type of Shaka team we’ve seen. Ben Gold is stiff and Joplin isn’t much better. If those guards get their engines going they can make you panic into spurts. Very flawed team. Lots of home cooking from the refs tonight and 18 turnovers by Gtown, who isn’t ready to win a game like that on the road. They’re a tough matchup for us given the guards but we should be able to hammer them down low. There will be far more tough matchups for them come tourney time than the opposite.

Meanwhile Dusty May is using his two 7 footer lineup in a way where Wolf has averaged almost 6 assists a game over his last 6 games. Tip of the hat to the creativity - great coaching. They are a fun team and will be really interesting come March. Their 3 losses are away from home by a combined 5 pts, can see them making a run given the matchup challenges.

Every team is flawed. There are no juggernauts.

They were comparing last year's Auburn team to last year's UConn team too. How did that go?

BTW, UConn in it's dominance last year, NEVER played their A game.
Took the foot off the gas many x once up 30. Bama shot close go 50% from 3 to keep it to 14. That team toyed with opponents. It would have taken a teams A++ game to beat their C game.

Not sure I agree but most are yes. Auburn and Duke have very balanced rosters and depth and do a lot really well. Both currently have KP higher than last years UConn team, which is surprising. That Florida team is really well rounded.

Marquette specifically has a very flawed roster susceptible to exactly what they’re always susceptible to in March.

That KP will go down ass the year goes on, neither team has the depth or overall ability of our team last year. But, they seem to be the two best outright teams, Iowa St and Tennessee are also great.

Are we talking A games in the tournament? Because the Xavier game at home was hard to deduct any points for, jumping out to a 38-7 lead and winning by 43. Marquette at home too, given the quality of the opponent. The Seton Hall revenge game felt pretty good.

In the tournament, I agree. We had a bad second half against Stetson, kinda shot like crap against NW, Illinois and Purdue. And Clingan had an off game against SDSU.

The previous year, we hit pretty close to A against Arkansas (just one weird stretch in the second half when we gave up a 10-0 run without crossing halfcourt) and Gonzaga.

I think Florida is better than both of them but they're all flawed.

Marquette lost in the sweet 16 last year because they shot 4-31 on threes. It wasn't because of their flaws. Kolek's hand isn't all messed up they beat Michigan State the year before, Kolek was hurt against NC State as well.

Duke is going to run through the ACC like a freight train - they’ll likely win the large majority of their games by double figures. I honestly don’t know who in that awful conference can beat them, or even stay close, and as young as they are will only get better.

Auburn has the benefit of playing lots of highly ranked KP teams. They could hit a tough stretch because of that but who knows.
