Hold that thought boys. Cincinnati has cut an 18 pt deficit to 3 with 2 minutes and change left
Damn. They tied it up. Cincy really looked horrible for 32 minutes. Caleb Love not doing Zona any favors with poor shooting for supposedly being their money guy.

And then Cincy gives up a completely uncontested layup off a simple pick and roll. That was embarrassing.

Well that's Caleb Love for you. I really don't know him in any other way.

Another interesting day for ranked teams

Arkansas was always going to lose at Tennessee but by 24?!

#15 UCLA goes down to Nebraska

Formerly good BYU gets dog walked by 30 against Houston

Baylor was also always going to lose at Iowa State, but lost by 19. Not good for us

#16 Cincinnati loses at home to 7-5 Arizona

#12 OU at #5 Bama and Texas at #13 Texas A&M later today, so still more chances for madness

He's actually having his best shooting % year. He didn't even hit half his average today and took some bad looks.

Watched Duke, they have some good shooters and Flagg but aside from a screen or 2 they spread out then drive and kick or let Flagg do it all. Nothing like our offense. But talented players.

4 secs left and he got all the way to the rim in a one point game, that's a great look

A head down kamikaze drive at the strong side of the basket is one of the easiest contests at the rims a defender can get. As a defender, you know exactly where the ball handler is going and when he will get there.

"Head down kamikaze drive", please knock it off man. The guard has his head up and his eyes on the basket, fully aware of the time the entire play. His only other option was to dump it off to the guy who attempted the follow-up and 99.99% of college players are not making that play in that situation.

I expect our metrics to take a hit tomorrow. Colorado, Dayton, Texas and DePaul all got blasted. Think they lost by a combined 100.

It was a bad play, even against a defense as bad as UNC’s. He missed the shot badly, what more evidence do you need?

We've seen Hass make that play, having to bank one high off the glass. It was contested for sure, shooter put too much on it. But at no time was his head down.

Couple of things about that play... first, they could've gotten over half court quicker going to guy on right side of the court. He had one guy to beat and probably could draw a foul. But once inbounds went to the PG, who took it to top of the arc, his only two options were to go to the hoop or dish to the left corner for a three. The other notable thing to me is that if they had Samson Johnson out there instead of the lead foot who threw the inbounds, Samson Johnson gets well into the paint for a possible jam or at least a foul.

yeah Duke's defense is a lockdown defense for sure.

At the same time the team with the best ball movement they played was UK and they lost that game. They are very good though at stopping one-on-one play.

Just because it is possible to make a play does not make it the best play. Basketball is generally won by the team that takes the most high percentage shots in a game. What constitutes high percentage will be somewhat different from team to team, but it will rarely be a full sprint diagonally to the strong hand block where a defender is waiting for the ball-handler while another defender has taken away the option of a cutback to the off hand block.

Defenders have been practicing the transition defense play at the block since their first practice in 3rd or 4th grade. They will know what to do. Burton's layup attempt was not an impossible shot, but I think he should have fired the ball up to a crosser in the middle just over the middle, who would either look to the opposite corner or to a cutter to the basket. I would even have Burton trail the first cutter in case the cutter pulls the defense to him and leaves Burton open behind the play. Instead, Burton dribbled 70+ feet with the entire defense looking at him and hoped to get a decent shot off.

What's up with the college basketball TV schedule tonight? First Monday night with no NFL game in 4 months and the best games we get are Ohio State at Minnesota and TCU at Houston?
