Guys, let's all relax. It's part of sports.. Jana hasn't played competitive basketball in maybe over a year. It was just a maucle spasm. Overall, injuries come with this game we love so much. Let's just keep on rooting for our team, regardless what happens in the future.
Amen, my friend!!Dear basketball gods. I’m hoping to wake up tomorrow, log in here to the yard (after I get my coffee of course), and read some positive news about Jana. Please don’t let me down.
IG post from some Egyption account.
Translation: NBA U-19 player Jena 1000 with a cut in Water Achilles tend to last for 6 months.
Not official but . . .
No, normal basketball recovery for an achilles tear is 10 months. Unfortunately I think this takes her out for the season.I hate these Fiba tournaments.Fingers crossed here...but: if that report is accurate that would mean late January for a possible return.
Lots more questions than answers....conditioning for one. One month of regular season left...1 and 1/2
months for tourneys.
Let's hope for more news later today....and better news.
Back better than ever..Jana!
Yup, I believe everything I read on FB too.A muscle cramp can be a small thing and go away in a few minutes or it can be a big deal and take days to recover from if the muscle gets knotted. Its usually from needing water, too much exertion or being in a very hot environment. I read it was a muscle cramp on facebook. I'll try to find out more about it.
I shall shut up with my doom and gloom then until we know more.As info, Achilles tears vary in severity. For more severe tears, 10 months to a year is a reasonable post surgical recovery time. For a more minor tear it can be much quicker. When Stewie suffered a partial tear to her Achilles in 2021, she underwent surgery in October and was back for the start of the WNBA season the following March, a little over 5 months later.
If these social media posts are accurate then I believe UConn will say something but only after something is said publicly by Jana and/or the Egyptian wbb federation. So far nothing has been confirmed though I suspect the team is traveling back to Egypt today. Imaging was probably done in Madrid but they'll probably do additional imaging once she is home.Yup, I believe everything I read on FB too.
I wonder if anything official will be put out by UConn? Maybe not seeing that the alleged injury occurred while Jana was engaged in a non UConn activity or because UConn has (rightfully so) become secretive when it comes to a player's health.
That was a repair of the original injury and surgery from 2019 that kept her out about a year.As info, Achilles tears vary in severity. The 2nd achilles surgery in 2021 was to repair/reinforce the left achilles which Stewie said was about 50% torn. The first surgery to the right achilles in 2019 was for a complete rupture. As info, Achilles tears vary in severity.
