What? Gaff was 1-2 from 3. On the year he is 3-7 for 43%. His bigger problem is that he doesn't shoot often enough.
Exactly - I can think of some shots I wish Gaffney had taken instead.

@Chief00, I'm surprised this comment came from you. I don't think think you would ever say that about a Calhoun recruit. DH is not JC but he is the head coach and most on here would agree that he has done a good job so far. So, let him coach and don't worry about a freshman transferring after the third game.
That’s not what Chief said (transferring after game 3), but he certainly is one of are two most gifted players and we need to let him play through some mistakes this year. He’s a good kid, trying to do things the right way. I also don’t think Danny disagrees with me. Let’s see. You also neglected to
mention what I said about pandering.

Polley can’t be getting himself in Foul trouble. 4 fouls in 4 minute
Is almost beyond belief.
we’re desperate for a second and third option right know

Chief really likes Jackson and while he needs seasoning (mostly his shot) - his upside is sky high. Chief doesn’t believe in pandering but you don’t want to have this guy transfer due to PT. He can be that special.
Chief really? If he can't earn playing time at UConn how will he do in the NBA?

You clearly don't understand sample sizes.
screw your sample sizes. we are talking about who's a better shooter RIGHT NOW so the sample size can by definition only contain these 3 games.

are you blind or can you not see that polley looks like he's playing on 1 leg?

Limited practice coming off injury first few games came in a little raw in the ball handling and shooting aspects of the game. This start was very predictable. By the end of the year he’s a major factor. I do see us playing him closer to the basket though. I really like him at the 4, even against teams with size. He has the athleticism and length.

Polley is the better shooter right now and always, this is a really strange hill to die on

I feel like we need to qualify this. If he is set and receives a pass and doesn’t have to dribble, Polley is an excellent shooter. If he has to dribble once to the side, or move in any way after he gets the ball, he is not a good shooter. Even healthy that was the case.

Thus far he can’t seem to stay in the court and when he does, we have not gotten him the looks he needs. He’s not very useful at generating offense himself. Been that way since he got here.

Of course, Polley definitely has his limitations and is really just a spot up shooter. But we're comparing him to Tyrese Martin here, who is not a good shooter. He's respectable and I have no problem with him taking the 3 when he's open, but he's not on the same level as Polley as a shooter. No doubt he's a more complete offensive player and should be playing over him but that's not what this conversation was

I disagree about benching Jackson just because of a zone. He's a perfect guy to flash to the FT line since he reads the floor well. Martin just played really well. If a starter is having a good game you leave him on the floor, simple as that.

well, keep in mind the small sample sizes here, i mean martin's percentage is based on 3 shots.
Hey, hey, screw your sample sizes bro. 3 shots is enough to definitively decide moving forward that Martin is our new shooting specialist. I'm surprised Hurley would let Polley shoot a 3 at this point.

Polley is the better shooter, probably on one leg too.

You must've blinked when 1 of Martins 3 attempts on the season missed the entire hoop. Please stop.

I don't agree with this at all. Before he got hurt last year they were running him off screens and he was knocking shots down all over the place. If you want to talk about someone who needed their feet set start with Niels Giffey (who I love but I don't think he made a three off the dribble in his entire career). Polley is obviously still working his way back from the knee thing.

I don’t even like polley and even ik this is a very stupid argument
hold up...3 games is too small a sample size for me to draw any conclusions but 1 air ball is all you need to see? got it. next.

being a better shooter requires that the guy can actually play basketball and in the game against USC polley did not belong on the floor for a single minute.

i'm not saying it's his fault, he's hurt. but we are talking about who the best lineup to play against the zone was. polley was not one of those 5 guys yesterday.

the conversation was what was the best lineup to play against the USC zone. if polley was healthy polley would be in that lineup but he's hurt and cant play so he isn't getting the spot over martin. i dont get the confusion and it's BS to say polley would be more effective on one leg. if that was the case he would have played more than 4 minutes. polley is obviously the better shooter all else equal, but all else is not equal

You literally, word for word said exactly that. You didn't say Martin should play over Polley (he should), you said he's a better shooter

I'm not a big Polley fan, but he was getting better at running harder around screens and needing less time to get set. Hopefully he can get back there. Running out of time on his career. Just this one bizarre year left.

when our offense was inept vs their zone.
we weren't debating who would win a 3 point shooting contest in any empty gym. you are ignoring the context. it was about playing the USC zone.

My recollection is that he played that way for one, maybe two games before the injury. Polley isn’t worthy to carry Griffey’s jock as an all around player. Rebounding, passing, defense, Griffey was vastly better player his senior year.
