Hope we are just delaying for suspense. Sign El-Amin. Cant believe this is a discussion.

According to NCAA guidelines, he can't sign a LOI until November of 2016. So if you start a thread between now and then calling for Ollie to be fired because IEA hasn't signed, you may get a little bit of backlash.

Any updates here? If Waters is looking less and less likely...IEA should become more and more of a priority. I know we cant sign an LOI until 11/16, but we can get a verbal, cant we?

When asked the (inevitable) question about where he stands with his father's alma mater, the younger El-Amin said he would be thrilled by the prospect.

"That's my top school. If I got an offer from there they would definitely be my top school. Just growing up there in the UConn environment. I started living in Connecticut when I was four so, yeah it would be some place I would consider," El-Amin explained.

"I like the campus a lot, the student environment, and Gampel. It's just amazing. There's so many fans there and it's so loud. Of course I like coach Ollie. He's a great coach. I feel like I could learn a lot from him."

and we like you Ish. Its impossible to not think we will have a scholarship for this kid.

Do whatever it takes to get this kid a scholly. We owe.

As TCF mentioned in the Donyell Jr. thread...IEA has fallen off the table. He was rated in the top 40 for Scout.com but they now have him unranked and labeled as a 3-star recruit. Unless things change...he should not be a priority.

It seems like he is garnering some interest from some schools like Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Miami. I'll be curious and hopeful to see if he can turn those into offers.

I still think we will eventually offer him solely because of his last name.

Not sure if you're serious, but if that was the case, it would have already happened.

I am curious as to why there was such a big change in ranking for him. How can someone be rated so high then bumped so far down?

Other kids catch up athletically.

If you watch the IEA videos, he clearly doesn't have elite athleticism - he's more of a SamIIAm type. So then the question becomes: Can he continue to be a primary ball-handler, guard opposing PGs and make plays for 40 minutes against guys who are now stronger/faster/bouncier than he is? Maybe he'll figure it out, but most kids don't.

Personally I'd have no problem signing a kid who 1) can shoot, 2) will probably play 4 years of college ball, and 3) is reportedly a high-IQ kid. Add in the bonus of him being the son of a Husky legend, and it feels like a no-brainer to me.

Getting another Craig Austrie into the program would not be a bad thing in the slightest. Even if that's all IEA becomes, it still makes our program better and more stable.

EDIT: And let me just expand on this a bit: Getting IEA into the frame as a backup PG/third guard/shooting specialist allows us to swing-and-miss on big fish targets at PG in 2018.

Before we knock IEA for being a 3 star on the updated Scout list, keep in mind that everybody that is outside the top 75 is considered a 3 star since they don't bother ranking past the top 75.

I like Ish but we are a very attractive school to a lot of really good players right now, especially guards. Makai Ashton-Langford is a name I don't hear much of around here, the kid wants to play at UConn and he's a stud. He's class of '17 but could reclass to '16.

I think we all love KEA and what he did for UConn and the map we reside on as fans now. But let's not think a spot will be taken by a HS player just because of a name, he needs to fit and have the ability to play here.

Has anyone seen him play in person or find any full length games on YouTube?
