Is Saturday the biggest day for this program since the 2014 natty?

I’m definetly super pumped for this game. So stoked but wouldn’t go as far to say it’s a big game for the program. In my eyes it’s the season opener. OOC went as expected, didn’t exceed or fall short of expectations, time to feast. There’s going to be a handful of fun home games this season.
PC
Xavier (is almost a sellout already)
Seton Hall
Nova
And on the road PC, Nova, St. John’s, Seton Hall. I’ll try and be at all 4 of these weekend road games.

Anyone remember the "Sarcastic Clap" game

Games versus Providence in the Jim Calhoun days was WW III. Hope we can rekindle that tradition in the Hurley era. Sometimes even more open warfare than against BC. “ Those were the days my friend we thought they would never end………ra ra ra ra ra ra…….”
I remember they we bigger games for Providence than for us .
It was never a game I circled on my I calendar. Cuse, Georgetown, some years Pittsburg.
Too their credit they usually brought their A game.
I don't think anyone is talking in terms of importance. More so in terms of excitement. This is our fans first time back in the building for a Big East game. Add into that we are ranked with expectations.
Heck if we’re going by excitement, I’m off the wall before a game with Coppin State.
Seriously it’s an important game because it’s a home league game against a decent PC team and if you want to contend you “have “to win these games.
If you lose home games to teams in the middle of the pack then this could be a very disappointing year.

YES !,,,, On Donny Marshall. That was one of it not the Dumbest call by any official. The official should have received the AAA award - Annual Anus Association award.

I remember leaving the PCC after some brutal losses and the PC fans were brutal. I hate them and their school (not their coach). But when newbies here give PC the wave of the hand, I think they are being disrespectful to those who came before. UConn-PC games are wars.

The only Friar from our meetings I really remember is John Linnnehan(?). He was a great player, an amazing pest. Fun to watch in a perverted way as he was a thorn in the side of the Huskies.

You are correct that PC always played us tough and our younger crowd cannot possibly know what the heydays of the Calhoun era was like.

Our younger fans cannot possibly have a concept of rthe heydays of the Calhoun era when we battled PC after all that was prior to their conception. Yes we usually beat them but not a stroll by the lake on a lazy afternoon.

Just to refresh your poor memory at the HCC.

My favorite PCC memory was in 1990. UConn coming in on a high after recently beating two Top 5 teams. PC needing a win to keep their tourney hopes alive. "It's Midnight Cinderella" read more than one sign in the feisty crowd. UConn went on to win by double digits as the early-emptying PC fans were serenaded to a raucous "P-C N-I-T! P-C N-I-T! " I started that chant. That's not a humble brag, it's a brag.

The games were close for many years. You ****s went on an amazing run that despite what we friars think is one of the most amazing things to happen in our lifetime. (4 NC’s) Now we start a new chapter this weekend. You may think we can’t hang, we will soon find out.

We are down a major scorer and rebounder so I don’t get any overconfidence on this game, in fact it’s probably pick ‘em even though we’re home.

I can’t remember the fan base being more excited for a game since then. Full house…. National TV… Huskies. PC fans in the building beware…

As to your question, no.

Providence fan welcoming us back to the Big East

I have no doubt you can hang. I think this will be a telling game for both teams let’s see what happens.

I have no problems giving PC fans the high hat, they suck, their decade of excellence was 50 years ago. But UConn-PC games are always a rock fight, I'm already feeling it through my Omeprazole. The beers go down faster at PC games and I have to go out after. I'm really hoping the 3's are falling.

They put me right in the middle of friar nation. But I’m going to carry the flag!!!

The biggest game since the 2014 National Championship (which I attended)? Let’s hope not.

Us veteran fans kept telling the Mewbies here that Providence always plays us tough. We are down by 11 at half time. I have seen Huskies come back from worse but this of course ain’t good.
