The player clasped the ball to her chest with both arms and her elbows tucked to her body. No foul (none was called) but the tie-up was bogus. Iowa State player were mauled and there were no calls.
But if they called the obvious reach in foul beforehand, there are no swinging elbows.
Worst example of one team being cheated that I have ever seen, worse than the 1972 Olympics game. All the refs in the game should be fired. I am shocked Fennely never got a technical, Geno would have gotten tossed in the 1st quarter. Does anyone know if the same refs were involved in TAM and Troy?

A team with 24 turnovers should never win unless the refs do the same unfairness to their opponents.
I just rewatched this and she got mauled the entirety of the game, not to mention one of the worst charging calls I've seen when a basket was waived off at the end of the game. Baylor should have played better and never allowed it to be close but the refs were seriously awful that game.
Gotta remember, with few exceptions, the there is no crossover of refs who do men or women in D1. Don’t know if say, lower level men’s refs do women’s games. Lots of refs needed. There is a lot of lousy reffing in the men’s game to. Used to be only 2 refs worked games. One extra ref is 50% more people. Theoretically the NCAA a should be better Far fewer games a day and supposedly the best refs get to do the tournament, so 2 refs vs. 3 shouldn’t matter. Somehow. still a lot of bad reffing.
I’ve seen that parent up close. One of my oldest granddaughter’s teammates had a mother like that. You could not sit next to or near her and enjoy the game. I remember she was asked to leave the gym once during a tournament game.
It’s interesting that as a spectator in the stands you can see EVERYTHING, while an official can be standing 5-7 feet away and not see it. 😳
Among the problems are when an out of position ref makes a call not made by a ref in perfect position. But there are definitely some things that you can see clearly on TV, a bit closer than the cheap seats, that are pretty bad calls or no calls. officiating in women’s games is weaker than in the men’s game, which is a bit curious given that the pace and athleticism is generally not as quick.
There were two no calls in the final minutes of the Iowa State game, either one of which would have allowed Iowa State to win. Both non calls took the ball out of their possession.

She did! Just because Griner was different(big girl) people get away with a lot of contact when guarding her. If you watch any of the semi or finals game in 2012 against Stanford and Notre dame, Griner’s defenders are constantly getting away with lots of contact. She made a lot of shots through those contact but there were a lot of them that should’ve been and-1s but it was never called!
