San Jose State has @Western Michigan/UC Davis/@Penn State/Army in 2020. The Army game is 11/14, which is also an open date for UConn.

San Jose has 5 OOC opponents scheduled in 2021 (Southern Utah/@Georgia/@Western Michigan/New Mexico State/@Army. The @Army game is on 9/18, which is also an open date for UConn. Since the MWC plays 8 conference games, San Jose has to cut one of their 5 OOC opponents.

With the @Nostical tip, my guess is we've added:

2020: @San Jose State (8/29), Army (11/14)
2021: @Army (9/18)
TBD: San Jose State

They won't get a permanent waiver. They'll either have to give up their championship game or

Doesn't the B12 have a CCG with only 10 schools?

SNY has a benefit no one seems to address. the NYC market. If we improve our record and we televise on SNY wouldn't that make us a marketable item for the Big 10? Proving we can draw in NY ?
Maybe not since the big 10 network is already on the basic tier in the NYC DMA at premium. That includes FFC.

Only because they play a 9 game round robin. No way the AAC plays a 10 game round robin.
Aresco is on record they want an 8 game conference schedule to allow the teams to try to schedule P5s to overcome strength of schedule arguments

What if there was an informal agreement that UConn would keep its games with the AAC next year, as a conference member if no waiver had been granted, but as an add a conference game if the waiver is granted. If that were the case the schedule would be filled, but all parties would want to keep it a secret until the wavier was granted.

If true, UConn’s schedule should be announced shortly. It’s kind of a reach, but the facts sort of fit.

Benedict allegedly has 10 of the 12 games locked. Not sure that it'll be AAC teams though, with the waiver they can go one division, have everyone play 8 games and not worry about having the schedule unbalanced between the divisions. Without the waiver, they would've had to go 6 and 5 team divisions and the result would've been at least some of the East teams playing one fewer conference games... that would've been UConn's opportunity there.

Instead it's probably scenarios where we tried to arrange to play both teams that were previously scheduled to meet for a game, we'd get two games the other teams remain whole (with whatever inducement needed to secure the arrangement)

App St looking pretty good, and sets up a rivalry with ECar.

App State would be a good fit there, but I wonder if the AAC would take them football only? Basketball team has been awful since the turn of the century.

Calling on Pacific coast, western, Asian, and other alumni and UConn fans. Easy SFO, SJC or OAK flight destination; toss in side visits (SF, Sonoma, Napa, etc) to appease significant others; leverage business-required visits; furthest west road trip for the Huskies, etc. Challenging not to like!

Don't forget the Cobra Experience in Martinez. Call for admission info.

They won't get a permanent waiver. They'll either have to give up their championship game or add a 12th member (probably another CUSA call-up). The 2 year clock has begun.

Perfect timing. By 2021 UConn will have a veteran roster, at least three very good quarterbacks, and will be a plum to add to the AAC in a Navy type slot.
Plus all those AAC teams will be looking for a game in the Northeast to aid in recruiting.

Buried within the Jeff Jacobs “Santa” article:

>>Already — no, make that finally — UConn is close to announcing six of the eight open dates on its 2020 independent schedule.

“We’re pretty much locked in,” athletic director Dave Benedict said. “Contracts can be challenging. In some cases, multiple institutions are involved in getting one or two games.

“You’re scraping and clawing for opportunities, but we’re hoping to release something later this week after they’re done and signed.”

UMass, Illinois, Indiana and Maine already were announced before UConn decided to leave the American. Benedict said he expects no additional FCS games beyond Maine in 2020. He would not comment on how many Power Five opponents there may be.

“You have to be creative and look for opportunities where they exist,” Benedict said.

In other words, schools juggled some years and series. Not easy. Conferences are already locked into dates for later in seasons. Teams are scheduled out through 2020 and 2021, and even for 2022 and 2023 schools already have much of it filled.

Benedict said he is open to continue playing AAC schools. There is reportedly a deal with UCF for 2021.

“Logistically, geographically, there are some schools in places we want to continue to play in,” Benedict said. “Obviously, Florida is an important place for us to play. Playing Temple in Philly makes sense.”<<

Hmm, opportunities where they exist.... timing next week... AAC waiver just finalized. Looks promising for some of the speculation in this thread.

it could be anyone because we are looking at getting people to move existing games. So any two out of conference games between other teams could instead hype games vs UConn and later games vs UConn and each other.

People really need to stop suggesting this. The AAC got a waiver. They are going to play an 8th conference game. It just won't be UConn.
Maybe, but putting UConn as an OOC game is easier for 2020. We will know one way or the other next week.

Where's the news on this? Will SJSU play at East Hartford?
