Once. Went to Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Animal Kingdom. My daughter was maybe 8? There was one point where I was taking a picture of her and there were like 10 other families waiting to take the same picture and I thought "What a special manufactured memory. I get the same picture of my kid as a billion other families."

I enjoy going to Disney and am an adult. Although the second half of that sentence is debatable
 
1. Adult only Disney is weird. No need for context or explanation. Just weird.
2. Adult only Epcot is much different. Especially doing beers of the world. Same for Universal. Much more normal for adults only to be there.
3. @StllH8L8ner is right. Take kids when they are 8-12 years old and do it once. They need to be old enough to walk on their own and be able to function somewhat normally.
4. There are a bazillion other ways to spend the same amount of money and have a better vacation.
5. Hulu+ is the way to go for the streaming and bundling. You get the full Disney suite built-in. Only thing YTTV is worth getting is for NFL package.
6. Last few times we went to a Disney themed park it was for the water park- Beach Blizzard. Kids liked that way better.

It still cracks me up remembering a student's mother calling to say she was taking her kids out of school for a week to go to Disney World. We were always told "sorry for the inconvenience, but it's too expensive during school vacation week."

This happened several times a year, every year.

When I ran into a dad and asked about the Disney World trip, they all pretty much said, "don't get me started on those freakin' brainwashing con artists. We go every year. Any idea what that costs?"

Actually, I do. A few years ago a neighbor's wife died unexpectedly. I was encouraged by other friends and neighbors to start a gofundme campaign to send him, his sister, and his two young daughters to Disney World for a week. The tickets were bought and paid for, then nobody donated.

It cost me a little under $9k.

People suck. So does Disney.

Isn't it pretty much paying to stand in lines and brag that you went?

Maybe for some people, but the lines aren't bad when you have the fast pass and if you pick a good time of year to go

Fast Pass at Disney isn't great. The popular rides fill up fast. So you can use it maybe 3 times a day at best. I do think the app and wrist-bands are well implemented though.

Universal Express is legitimately good. Works all the time. It's very expensive unless you stay at the on property hotels, so that's what we do.

I know some "Disney Adults", I don't quite get it, but I do think the hotels are nice, there's a lot to do and it can work. Walking from Beach Club area to Epcot, getting dinner, having a couple beers and then seeing the fireworks is perfectly fine as an adult. Disney Springs is more adult themed as well.

There's nice hotels, beautiful scenery, great food and different cultures all over the world.

Getting badly overpriced lodging, food, and drink in central Florida surrounded by hordes of people sounds about as appealing as Syracuse in the winter.
 
Thank god my kids have aged out of Disney. We never took them to Orlando but would go down to Disneyland probably one weekend a year in the winter between Thanksgiving and Christmas and generally had a good time. That's probably nostalgia talking more than anything else. I always liked California Adventure (where they at least had booze).

I think if my wife proposed that we go on a Disney vacation just the two of us I would assume she had some kind of psychotic break.

First sentence is true. But Orlando in winter can be pretty nice compared to the north, and it's always better than Syracuse in winter (which ranks just above being eaten by a Polar Bear).

I'm going one last time with my 21 year old, but just Epcot and Universal. If I end up with grandkids, I'll probably be back. Otherwise, I'm done with it. The best part is that nobody who doesn't want to go has to go. I'm sure there's vacancies in Syracuse in January.

The new fast pass system is much better, you get 3 rides to book at the start of the day and then can rebook another ride every time you use it. With good planning you can easily get on 10-15 rides with it throughout the day.

I agree it's not for everyone, and I'm sure I'll feel differently when I'm (hopefully) bringing 2 kids with me and the cost is 5x higher with everything they want to do. But for now it's an enjoyable experience to go with my fiancée

That's what the wheelchairs are for! Go right to the front of the disabled line with your whole group.
