Disney is having a contract dispute with DirecTV so they have pulled the Disney owned channel including ABC and ESPN. So no Monday Night Football available for DirecTV subscribers tonight.

They have to be one of the greediest companies in the US. When you rival Apple for lack of value, you are really up there.

I really don't get peoples fascination with Disney and paying the fees they are asking to go to their parks ($714 for a Saturday for a family of four not including parking) or take their cruises.

Plus if you sign up for Disney plus they’re legally allowed to murder you

I am indifferent about Disney, but I do find “Disney Adults” to be very weird.

If you go to a Disney park without children you have some screws loose (with the obvious exception being drinking around the world at Epcot).
I like Disney. But the wallet got me this summer. Lot of cash and got sick of the food.

it is a fun place to be for kids, after three times in six year am out. Also, hate the mouse after laying me off on same day my dad died. True story there. would probably go back for the right job. lol.

Disney adults are the most unhinged people I have ever met. I know someone who spent 15k for a week with a family of 4 at Disneyworld. For 15K I could travel for 2 months to somewhere outside of Orlando.

Eh. I'm not really interested in Disney but I don't think it's weird for adults to go without kids. If you go every year... Yeah. If your family didn't have the means to go as a kid and you want to go and see what it's all about then more power to you. I just think it's incredibly overrated and not my idea of an enjoyable trip.

I went to a handful of different amusement parks around Japan with my wife before we had our son, including Disney. Had a good time, didn't feel it was a weird thing to do, but eh.

Disney actually has affiliations that allow tapping into some good content, Hulu etc. I get it off my son who has kids. Apple TV has good things like Slow Horses which is worth the subscription but if you enroll in all of them it gets pricey.

That company is a mess and yes Disney adults are lunatics.

My 6 year old grandson offered without suggestion or pressure or coercion

"I like Aruba better than Disney"

I think the beach and pools and quality time with his family impressed him more than rides and lines

Just saying

Is Disneyland worth it to visit once with an 8 year old? Considering doing a couple days in June..

We took the kids to Disney World last October. They are 11 and 7. 7 year old loves princess stuff and 11 year old loves Star Wars so it was worth it for both of them and we splurged a bit on hotel and various special things. It’s a nice experience…once…if the kids are old enough to appreciate it which I think 8 is. I don’t plan on ever going back though.

I agree re: Disney being a piece of crap... But how much of this is DirecTV's fault?

Honest question, I have NO idea.
Just finished a contract dispute with local channels. Plus a few more. Did not recognize the parent company. I started with Directv in 1996. They were good to customers who are with them for long time. A few discounts here and there. This better not happen during CBB season.

These disputes are common among satellite/cable companies and tv broadcasting companies. This is not unique to Disney. These disputes are always a two way street. All companies are greedy. Directv just notified their customers that they are raising their rates just like every cable company and streamer does far too often.

Disney is about the kids. If adults are into it. It's weird
It’s not about the kids. It’s about how much money they can drain out of you because they’ve brainwashed your kid. Watch Frozen a thousand times then come here to spend 7 grand. Cmon.

My 77 year old wife and 54 year old daughter are into it. I went grudgingly with the whole family a couple times when the grandkids were in the single digits, agewise. These days, I wouldn't go to a Disney movie.

This.

Folks also need to realize that it’s their own fault for being beholden to one corporation to deliver all the content they desire. Both DirecTV and Disney leverage this fact constantly. DirecTV has far less of a footprint as they once did, so Disney, as a publicly shared company, is motivated to extract higher fees because of the dwindling subscriber-base at D-TV.

Move on to YouTubeTV, Fubo, Hulu Live, etc. They’ve already done their time in the cage with Disney and other content providers. And then guess what? When it’s [YT TV, Fubo, Hulu Live] time in the cage again and they don’t come through for you, move on to another one.

I agree with this. We finally cut the cord & went with Fubo early in the spring. Shortly after we signed up, Fubo got rid of SNY & the discovery networks (foodtv, HGTV, etc.) I think more of this will happen as streamers like Max have picked up many of these stations.

Strangely, Hulu Live (owned mostly by Disney) never has that kind of dispute with Disney.

As for DisneyWorld/Land, it's fun. Taking my now 21 year old this December, to do Epcot properly. She may want to go to Star Wars land again too. But Universal is better. Better rides, better park experience, hotels a nice walk to CityWalk, it's a fun spot, probably even without kids.

Iger thinks he is a super hero like the Marvel characters who have also run their course. Really all he is, is another narcissistic CEO. He is slowly but surely destroying an All American brand. The take my ball and going home unless you play by my rules is juvenile.

He is another Walsh who was eventually outed as an ineffective CEO but not before ruining GE so bad they will never make it back to respectability.

I laugh when I read he is actively looking for his replacement so the succession plan of getting the country to hate Disney continues. They ran out of Marvel story lines and are doing their best with the multiverse stuff to figure out a way to use old characters in a different dimension.

The genre has run its course. Sorry Bob…..for some reason I still have ABC on my DirectTV feed and I can assure you if it is on ABC I am watching on DirectTV not switching platforms.

I connected those dots a long time ago.
