I BELIEVE in Omar Calhoun....

I hope Omar comes back to what he was the year he committed. I wish nothing but the best for a very nice young man who stuck with Ollie during the coaching change.
Omar coming.

I agree. He's been as loyal as they come, and he has the potential to be enough of a contributor to be important at times. He did it as a freshman. One thing I know, is that leg injuries really affect some players a lot on offense in ways that seem to linger for years. A key contributor or not, he is one of the real good guys.

The FG% numbers are ugly, but in a surprising shock, Omar has actually been an effective offensive player this year. 11 points on 9 FG attempts and no turnovers comes out to an ORtg over 120. It's obviously not going to last if he doesn't start hitting his shots, but I want to see him shoot his way out of this. He and Adams are going to have to be able to score points on the second unit.

I think both Cassell and Calhoun can be decent producers. They can combine for 25 minutes and ~10 PPG. I like Cassell backing up Purvis and Calhoun at the 3 when Hamilton is at the 4.

IMO, Ollie will have to go with the guy with a hot hand to a degree. We will need these guys to see some time on the floor at the very least. I'm hoping both of them will be able to break out of their slumps as they both are capable of filling in on our second unit.
We've seen both guys be good shooters (Cassell was good last yr early on, and hit a few shots last night, and Omar his freshman year), so we all know there's something there. Both guys have flashes of being very capable players so there is definitely something there - you can't write off a person for a bad game or two.

I'm sure everyone here is hoping Omar finds his way since, like posted above, he is a loyal husky and has stayed through this program despite Calhoun stepping down, the 1 year postseason ban, being hurt and not seeing much time during our championship run and last year to a degree.

Maybe against lesser competition, but in big games I'd really like to see Gibbs/RP/Dan Hurley at ~30 minutes unless they get into foul trouble. I'd much rather give ~20 of the backup minutes to Adams, and that just doesn't leave much time for Sam and Omar.

.-.
Omar can provide some scrappy and tough defense when he wants to. At this point it's the best thing he has to offer - not that it's a bad thing to bring to the table.

Would be very happy if he became this years NCAA Gunslinger. In hindsite, perhaps he should have redshirted after the two hip surgeries after his freshman year.

Between SC2 and OC, I'll take OC all day. He's more athletic, scrappier, and, most importantly, and unlike SC2, at some point in the past we observed him hitting at a good rate from deep.

I think he will. But there will probably be enough situations where either Omar or Sam will be asked to do something more than just give guys a few minutes rest if they can show that they can be counted on. We'll see. Adams is still in the process of getting used to the speed of the college game, and we haven't played any really challenging teams yet, taking nothing away from a decent New Hampshire team.

OC is money from mid-range. He needs to concentrate on hitting jumpers from mid-range rather then settling for the 3

I like what I see from both although just when I am ready to say Sam Jr will eventually lose his minutes he plays a nice game. Omar is scrappy, can rebound a little and make a shot no doubt. But Sam, although not speedy, gets to spots, passes the ball well and can make shots - very smart player. Both will have their days as this season moves forward.

.-.
OC career has been very disappointing and i really hope he has a memorable Sr. year and goes out a winner because the kid deserves it. When guys were transferring out because of the issues we had he stuck with this program and that meant and still means a lot in my eyes. If it werent for the disappointing injuries i have no doubt he`d wouldve had a solid run here. I hope he has a healthy season first and foremost and hope he plays well.

Omar is a decent mid-range shooter and has developed a good floater. He has above average athleticism, has decent defensive fundamentals & is a pretty good rebounder.

I would like to see him quit trying to be a three-point specialist and concentrate on helping the team with the better aspects of his game.

Sam Jr. is a better ball-handler and passer than Omar. As Coach Ollie has pointed out, he has put out a much better effort on defense, but still struggles to stay in front of quicker opponents. Both should see minutes, who gets more will depend upon the team's needs at that time.

IMHO, neither should be jacking threes early in the shot clock.

Very well said.

This is exactly what OC should be doing. I remember at some point last season he showed the ability to do damage with mid-range shots.
