How was Cronin not thrown out right now?!?

Although Cronin went crazy it was all initiated by the thug Valentine. How this guy continues to ref is beyond. He was in the Big 10 or maybe still is but I know the fans in that conference hate this guy. Bad ref - Bad person.

Hey, it wasn't a bad no-call, it was "incredible restraint shown by Teddy Valentine." I know, because Mike Patrick told me about 20 times.

Cronin didn't look so good after the game. I'm worried about him.

While I thought the bad calls evened out, there were a lot of bad calls. The refs also seemed to get into it with each other near the end.

It wasn't a well refereed game. It was a sloppy game that UCONN should have put out of reach with five or so minutes left in the game. They just couldn't hit the open shots and the bunnies all day.

I agree bill…..

Can you imagine playing Cincy in a dogfight like that and not getting to the 1-and-1 until the 1 minute mark or so? Mick had no gripe……...;)

As I said in the other Cronin thread, the Leprechaun says he was asking, "can I T you up?". Looks like the Notre Dame mascot to me and probably has the green suit and hat in his wardrobe already.

I didn't see the whole scene live, but I saw it on ESPN. I thought the official had no business getting up in his face. I couldn't read their lips till the end when Valentine was walking away and Cronin said "That's complete bull$hit and you know it". As was pointed out, I'd hate it if an official did that to Ollie. And when Katz interviewed Cronin after the game, Cronin made a great point saying essentially you'd never see an official doing that to Krapchevsky, Boeheim, etc etc.

Well it hard is for a ref to get in the face of Boeheim or Coach K because they are already on their knees in front of the ref doing whatever it takes to get their calls...

Probably cuz TV Teddy realized he messed up by getting in his face like that
And you were exactly right:

After the game, Valentine called the AAC's supervisor of officials and acknowledged that he should not have stepped toward Cronin in such an aggressive manner. "I was just totally wrong. I was out of place by walking into his space," Valentine told me by phone on Sunday. "It was just one of those situations where I got caught up in the moment. I was out of bounds because I walked into his domain. That's why I didn't give him a technical because I knew I was wrong, and two wrongs don't make a right. If it had been 15, 16 years ago, I never would have caught myself like that."

He's absolutely right. Of course, he would have been justified in T'ing Cronin immediately after the initial call when Cronin went running down the sidelines. That is the exact action that got Ollie tossed a month ago.

I'm ok with the no technical for two reasons. 1) When it happened it thought Valentine was out of line stepping to Cronin like that, so i got the no T because he realized he was in the wrong and didnt want to compound the error. 2) we won the game. Had Valentine's aggression and subsequent no T call ended with us losing the game i'd be outraged as would everyone else. Glad it worked out.

So this is why he did not call a T (from SI):
