Hines commits!!

I said instincts for a reason. Both of those dudes were massive and arguably better rim protectors. But like I said, the timing, positioning and ability to anticipate a shot attempt remind me a lot of Emeka

I think I get what you’re saying but the best shot blocker is the guy who blocks, alters and deters the most shots—and if Hines is a better shot blocker than either Thabeet or Clingan he’ll be the NDPOY. I love your enthusiasm for Hines’ potential and hope you’re right in whatever exactly you’re saying! 😀

In fairness I probably should have worded it better, I know how this board can be lol.

If you extrapolate his stats out to a per 30 he's at like 3.6bpg. Not 4 per game like Okafor had every season (crazy he was at almost 5 his sophomore year) but not far off either. If he swats even 3 per game for us next year I'll be ecstatic haha

I’m very protective of Thabeet’s legacy, which I think is criminally misremembered, even on this board.

He was an absolute eraser. Teams did not even go into the paint by the end of his junior year.

As a freshman his blocks per 30 minutes average was 4.65. (He played less than 25 mpg and averaged 3.8 bpg.) Career average of 4.2.

True, but I don't see him being the kind of center that Sanago and Reed are offensively with the kind of footwork they had. Doesn't mean he won't score on brute force alone.
I d know about that. He showed great quickness and moves to the basket along with using his off hand. He sure seems to be exactly what we need on both offense and defense. He's a competitor too. Too bad Reibe isn't.

Naj 👁️ is a great get! One of our issues this year was killer instinct, ability to put teams away. That was partially due to our inconsistent 3 point shooting. I’m curious if we bring in someone with a killer mindset, or someone develops that.
Çam answered that question! 😎

2nd in the country in block %, at probably 6’9. Has decently long arms but his quick twitch vertical jumping is next level.

This is news that we needed, considering the past few days in the portal, including today

If we want to go dancing this year lets bring the memory of Gregory Hines with us.

It all seems realistic - Wilkins might want a bigger role, or he might be good with a 20 minute scorer role as a soph and then take over as a junior when Ball, Mullins and Demary are all gone.

Win the chip, Mullins and Khamenia leave early, Silas and Ball and Ross/Stew leave, then Wilkins, County, Landrew and Hines (the law firm) take over.

I'm already scouting the 27s and 28s when Hiller commits.

Wilkins had a visit at Kentucky tonight I think. Would be incredible if Hurley could sell Wilkins on being part of a perimeter rotation with Demary and Mullins and Solo and have him come here over probably starting and getting paid $$$ to do so at UK. Feel like that's too good to be true

Updated grid.
Assuming we bring in a starting PF eg Khamenia and a backup PG and C, then Hurley has to find PT for 10 guys if Ball, Mullins and Stew all come back…

Silas 30 / Transfer PG 10
Ball 25 / Mullins 15
Mullins 10 / Ross 15 / Stew 15
Khamenia 25 / Landrew 15
Hines 30 / Transfer C 10

30: Silas / Hines
25: Ball / Mullins / Khamenia
15: Ross / Stew / Landrew
10: Transfer PG / Transfer C

Has to be the most guard oriented team Hurley’s had at UConn.

This deserves some kind of reaction (more than one in fact). But mostly I'm afraid for a future in which there are 3 more years of "ketchup humor."
Don't worry, it won't be as bad as you expect. I had similar fears when Solo Ball committed. Being the BY, there was some juvenile snickering for a short while, but it went away pretty fast.. I must admit though, the double ketchup reference was pretty dang clever. He's probably been hearing ketchup jokes his whole life, but now he's big enough to stop it if he wants!

Wait, so we’re over the back of his jersey saying 1 ball? Asking for a friend

Fantastic news. Huge get for UConn and the staff. I feel relief. We have something approaching a team now. Love his potential and I think Dan can use him to high hedge with his mobility. Could become a defensive monster here.

Well, that's an obscure reference. The movie.White Nights with Baryshnikov showed off his athleticism and dancing. Running Scared with Billy Crystal isn't a bad watch either.
