You don't keep a Ferrari in the garage
Came here to post this. I wanted to see what he was thought of as a recruit. I know it doesn't matter in some ways, and kids like Wilkins can be completely missed. Hines was a solid 4 star. He's is listed at 6-10, 265 with a 7-2 wingspan. Very close to a Tarris Reed clone.
Defensively, he strikes a rare balance between being both a high-volume rebounder and shot-blocker. He’s not built like a prototypical rim protector and yet still led the EYBL with 2.8 per game, while grabbing 9.8 rebounds. He’s a huge physical deterrent, understands verticality, absorbs contact without losing an inch, and doesn’t leave his feet unnecessarily. Between that and his massive hands, he dominates his area on the glass and is also willing to rebound outside of it. Where he can struggle right now is when he’s pulled away from the paint and asked to slide laterally on the perimeter.
Assuming we bring in a starting PF eg Khamenia and a backup PG and C, then Hurley has to find PT for 10 guys if Ball, Mullins and Stew all come back…
Silas 30 / Transfer PG 10
Ball 25 / Mullins 15
Mullins 10 / Ross 15 / Stew 15
Khamenia 25 / Landrew 15
Hines 30 / Transfer C 10
30: Silas / Hines
25: Ball / Mullins / Khamenia
15: Ross / Stew / Landrew
10: Transfer PG / Transfer C
We can't talk about it per forum rules, but there are guys who have not officially committed to be here. Nor are they in the portal. I think they are waiting because I truly believe that if Mullins is coming back he's the starting SG and not SF. I think Ross is back because he knows he is the starting SF with Landrew behind him. Stewart will need to decide once we land a PF and his potential role becomes more clear.Definitely understand these are very rounded off numbers, but I can’t see Ross coming back to only play 15 minutes a game, especially given that he was getting much more than that the last third of the season
There's some joke in there about Rick making a "late push."
Agreed, primarily illustrating how hard the PT is to come by in a 10 man rotation which is why Hurley has never done it before, it’s not the nba. I think we end up with 9Definitely understand these are very rounded off numbers, but I can’t see Ross coming back to only play 15 minutes a game, especially given that he was getting much more than that the last third of the season

That ain’t Pitino.
It was an endowment that was established. It is for the future. Feel free to google how they work. Are Danny and Geno going somewhere?
Those are my thoughts. I would add that if we want to compete in physical BE for any trophies and we consider the physicality of St John’s squads and Rick’s teams, we do need a player like him as well as Landrew. In addition, we missed somewhat that shot stopper and deterrent for penetrating teams. Yes, Reed improved there and Najai will take that torch. As the national title or Duke game proved, physicality and battles in the paint can dominate the NCAA tournament as well. He's is listed at 6-10, 265 with a 7-2 wingspan. I feel like Ross will put the work in as he has in the past to go to the next level. His value to the team can’t be underestimated. How many people a couple years ago would have said it was more important to retain Ross over Stew? He's going to play a true 6th-man role and get 20-25mpg. He's a poster boy for consummate teammate and hard worker. Doesn't need a lot of shots. Just moves the ball, gets open looks and plays defense like a psycho. Not everyone can be the alpha.
