She and Manuel appeared to sit idly by watching Tom Jurich run the end around play to get the ACC bid. Maybe Loserville gets it anyway, but the lack of effort from our administration was negligent and clueless. You can also argue it's hindsight, but she hired Manuel without the recogniton and awareness that he already had one foot out the door toward Ann Arbor from day one at UCONN. He also made a disasterous hire when Bobby Fiasco landed in Storrs. Sorry, but she gets to own those two hires and the resulting disaster that football has become, hindsight or not.
Fair post. I disagree though.
I agree that I would have preferred her to be more proactive. Many here say there was nothing she could do, but I'd have rather she went down swinging. Pretty sure Tobacco Road was telling her it was done a deal and she accepted that. That said that's not her ruining the athletic department though.
Pretty tough to say the UConn AD for 4 years. Is that really one foot out the door? Michigan is one of a relatively few AD jobs that are better than ours. It is what it is.
Fully agree that Red Pants was a disaster, but the hire was reasonable enough. He was fresh off of winning a Broyles Award and his line of patter probably sounded pretty good in an interview. Tough to be too critical of that, IMO.
