Ain't that the truth.
I had HCFC season tickets last year, and only went to a couple of games this year. Outside of their own social media, this team's presence is non-existent. Day of game experience is incredibly lacking, and always felt like a "last minute" project. Attendance this season was noticeable down. I think I left one game last year because I was hungry, and they didn't have any concessions available.
The gossip I have heard is none of the players and employees are paid, therefore this is essentially a "side hustle" for everyone involved. Unfortunately it showed. I do think there is a market for an amateur/semi-pro team in New Britain, although the Sarwar Family would have to swallow quite a bit of pride to make that happen (i.e. re-brand and accept New Britain is their home).
Hartford is long overdue for a pro team in town, and it seems the USL group has the capital and fortitude to make a real effort out of it. I think the USL team will be as successful as the Yard Goats have been. Hopefully HCFC can find a path forward, because I do not see them being able to compete with a professional team in this market.
