Oh look. USL is well in its way to being like the 8th or 9th most popular league in the USA.

Reptar is just one of the same 2 Wolf Pack fans who made yet another new account... sigh... Anyways not sure why he holds so much contempt for HCFC they drew over 1,000 ppl for at least 1 game last year and got 700+ a couple other times. Pretty decent for 1st year. Nice brand and most importantly it's unaffiliated. He can think what he wants but he knows if the USL team is the Revs farm club it's gonna flop big time.

It's funny that he asks people if they're going to attend USL games but he doesn't support what we have now..

That's funny...I remember not too long ago you being all excited over the thought of the USL team being named "Whale City FC." Who are you trying to fool? You're no soccer fan. You only support teams who honor your dead hockey team.

Makes no sense to support a "Hartford" team that doesn't play in Hartford. Come 2019, I'll be watching real Hartford soccer at Dillon while you continue commuting to New Britain to watch your team (assuming they're still around by then.) haha

Have to say, I am really tired of the USL v HCFC mentality. HCFC is doing what they can to bring a pro soccer product to the Greater Hartford area - there is no need to bring them down. USL is an exciting project backed by the fin capital required to revive Dillon - BOTH options are good for CT soccer, BOTH clubs can be supported without the combative narrative.

I personally don't have anything against HCFC itself. I do have an issue with their moronic "fans" who love bashing the USL left and right. Is it the USL's fault HCFC won't be playing at Dillon? Nope. Grow the **** up and move on.

They've done a decent job and I wish them luck. Personally, I just can't follow them or the league their in. The NPSL has almost 100 teams, with 20 t0 30 teams joining and 10 to 20 teams leaving every year. Also, the league being unaffiliated keeps me away from going to games. If the new USL team ends up affiliating with the Revs, I'd probably become a season ticket holder. If not then I'd definitely be more willing to go to games to see players that I know will be playing in the MLS in a year or two. Also, the NPSL isn't even apart of US Soccer and has become a "fourth tier league" over the years, and I think that hurts them as well. I also live closer to Hartford than I do to Central, and I'm not driving that far to basically watch "beer league" soccer.

Detroit is sponsored by Lyft and has a TV deal. Elm City has a partnership with pro club in Brazil.

That’s hardly beer league. NPSL is like the minor league baseball league that college kids play in every summer. It has a role.

Your post is the height of ignorance. I think it’s amusing that you think USL players matriculate to MLS by such a rate. Sporting KC only has 4 starters that are Americans and USL is supposed to be where American players learn to become pros.

Detroit this and Detroit that....lol. That team is probably the ONLY good thing the NPSL has going for it. I remember when HCFC aspired to be just like Detroit.....but that was before they lost Dillon. haha

How is my post "the height of ignorance"? That's how it feels to me. It sure doesn't feel like a Single-A College league at all. Also, even if the players don't go up to the MLS at a good rate, at least they move up there. How many players in the NPSL have even made it to the MLS? The partnership the USL have with MLS makes me more interested in wanting to watch them play than going to watch a NPSL team. That's my opinion.

@TheDoggPound ...if you actually followed HCFC, then you would know they partnered up with that hockey team you love to hate to put on the "1st Annual Hartford City FC/Wolfpack Soccer Clinic." Too bad your unaffiliated team doesn't share the same anti-Wolf Pack sentiment as you do. :p

First of all you have a decent avatar so you must be ok on some level.

But beyond that, everything you are saying is puzzling and wrong.

If USL players don’t move up to MLS then they don’t move up period.

College soccer players are pretty garbage these days however back when they mattered nearly every drafted college player probably played in PDL, NPSL or something like that in the long college offseason.

I’m not enamored with MLS. I didn’t even renew my season tickets for Sporting this year because I don’t think the quality of play warrants that level of investment.

I would rather see an independent club in Hartford like Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Charleston Battery or the Richmond Strikers.

Real clubs actually building something.

Hartford USL will be the afterbirth of Robert Kraft’s afterbirth. The Revs are the most unappealing franchise by miles in MLS. Hartford should aspire for something better.

Hartford City FC

So it is one of you repeat WP posters.. why would I care how they choose to promote/market their team?

Doesn't bother me one bit.

Some of the guys on Hartford City are very good: Ryan Taylor, Kieran Simms and Hami Kara to name a few. Definitely not 'beer league' but I get what you're saying about the distance.

And maybe it's just me but some of the divisional opponents are great: Brooklyn Italians, Boston City FC (Lions), Kingston Stockade, Elm City Express & Rhode Island Reds

The NPSL has the makings of a very compelling league if they trimmed down the size of the league to the best 36 markets/teams. Those teams above + HCFC could make up a cool Northeast Division

NPSL is part of the USASA which is USSF affiliated. They also participate in the US Open Cup which is USSF sanctioned. Not sure why the average fan would need a deeper affiliation.

I see NPSL as almost like an incubator. We need independent clubs to grow the game and harness the talent base of 350 Million. 28 MLS Academies isn’t enough.

Judging from your opinions on the AHL and WP, I'd say you care enough. haha

Doesn't bother me one bit.
Uh huh sure. Keep telling yourself that.

You wouldn't know the truth if it smacked you in the face. It's pretty obvious you got a superjohn at the thought of some team being named in honor of the Whalers.

Why do they need to be "independent clubs to grow the game"? I understand they all don't need to be affiliated with a MLS team but I think having the connection to the MLS would help bring in people. Just look at what's happened with other independent sports leagues over the years. They've all either signed contract agreements with a major league, became an affiliated minor league, merged with an affiliated minor league or the major league, or they've folded completely. What also doesn't help is that the NPSL is a league with 98 different teams, and they are equal to the PDL which has 74 teams, and then there is talk of adding a league between the USL and the NPSL & PDL. I think there are more than enough teams to handle the talent base.

Whatever you say guy. I support all teams, of all sports in HFD county except for the Crap Pack. You don't support a laundry list of teams for your various vindictive reasons and you actually set out to actively disparage them. You don't even support UConn Athletics and talk smack about UConn hockey but yet have the nerve to make an account on a UConn message board and think people should care about what you have to say smh

You begin by saying you support all teams and then end it by saying you don't support the WP. I hate to say it but you just contradicted yourself. Then again I'm not surprised coming from a someone like you.

You don't support a laundry list of teams for your various vindictive reasons and you actually set out to actively disparage them.
More like I don't support the teams you like....which would be HCFC and the Whalers. One being a "Hartford" team that doesn't play in Hartford and the other being dead for 21 years. How is it even remotely possible to support something that simply doesn't exist?

You don't even support UConn Athletics and talk smack about UConn hockey but yet have the nerve to make an account on a UConn message board and think people should care about what you have to say smh
Please point out exactly where I've "talked smack" about UConn hockey or UConn for that matter. College hockey might not be my thing but I don't have anything against it....despite what the voices in your head tell you. Oh and I never expected anyone to care about what I have to say. Apparently you do since you get your panties in a twist over every little thing I post. Look on the bright side....at least you don't see me pretending to like teams just because they remind me of a certain dead hockey team. You would know all about that.;)

Also it's not my fault HSG trademarked 'Whale City FC' - get salty at them
Just because they trademarked it doesn't mean they're going to use it.
