Clearly, many people that know anything about soccer give a crap about today's version of the Cosmos. In contrast, people that don't know squat may still think there's something special about the Cosmos. Capiche?
Unquestionably, a quantitatively solid argument supported by an undeniably strong league, massive attendance, and untold marketing and financial expertise.No. They were still the biggest brand name in the NASL.

Whooooooosh ........ the sound of missing the reference to things the current Cosmos' don't exactly have to the extent someone else inexplicably believesall things HCFC are lacking

Yup, but that was then and now is now. The point was and remains, the then "biggest brand name in the NASL" is of comparably marginal marketing and financial value today. It was ...

Perhaps a limited bump on typically negligible attendance, but re-focusing on the original point [note: the parenthetical "don't" was previously intended to be included in the cited prior message]:I bet you they get an attendance bump. You don’t think they will?

Funny, I was wondering how long you'd continue with a quantitatively unsubstantiated, current Cosmos' perspective, i.e., current marketing/brand and financial/accounting value. Well, it's New Britski. Maybe the unknowing show up in massive #s; sincerely hope so for those who give a hoot about the league and New Britain franchise. With that, we can agree to disagree and carry on with your Cosmos' opinion versus actual quantitative facts.Just stop.

Enlightening news flash, some filthy rich egos waste pocket change. Barring a wash, rinse, cycle again with another franchise sale strategy (sustainable?), the ongoing diminishing brand's year-end accounting, minimal profits to losses, and MLS will eventually trump the boy toy sale model. They have enough cache to lure in someone to waste 20M every few years. MLS tried to buy it before Rocco did for 10M just to make it go away. Those old NASL team names have a value. The Earthquakes, Sounders, Timbers etc. There’s your substance.
Drunkard Kraft owes us. He's partially to blame for losing the Whalers and 100% to blame for the Patriots debacle .
wait until Wednesday to find out what is going on with the new USL team.
all things HCFC are lacking
What I heard from a father of one of the HCFC player's is that the affiliation will be minimal. He said the Revs would loan only a couple players to the USL team. I don't know if that's normal or true, just passing it along.
Ain't that the truth.
I had HCFC season tickets last year, and only went to a couple of games this year. Outside of their own social media, this team's presence is non-existent. Day of game experience is incredibly lacking, and always felt like a "last minute" project. Attendance this season was noticeable down. I think I left one game last year because I was hungry, and they didn't have any concessions available.
The gossip I have heard is none of the players and employees are paid, therefore this is essentially a "side hustle" for everyone involved. Unfortunately it showed. I do think there is a market for an amateur/semi-pro team in New Britain, although the Sarwar Family would have to swallow quite a bit of pride to make that happen (i.e. re-brand and accept New Britain is their home).
Hartford is long overdue for a pro team in town, and it seems the USL group has the capital and fortitude to make a real effort out of it. I think the USL team will be as successful as the Yard Goats have been. Hopefully HCFC can find a path forward, because I do not see them being able to compete with a professional team in this market.
What part of “semi professional” do you not understand?
If Hartford were actually thinking big then they would lease the stadium to HCFC as well.
As well? I wouldn't be surprised if Hartford and the new team make HCFC change their name just so people don't get confused, or buy tickets to the wrong place. I still think it's silly to have a team call itself "Hartford" when they never played a game in the city, and are playing over ten miles away from it. Also, HCFC isn't professional or even semi-professional because the players aren't getting paid. They're more of a club team than anything else at this point. Maybe if the NPSL could get organized then it might be on the level of the USL, but until then, it will never be anything but that.
