Great Comedies

Nailed it. I don't much care for the "gross out" comedies that are so over the top. I did like the Ted movies however.

In addition to the old classics, and the Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, "Paul" was hilarious. Not a fan of Hangover. I did like most of the Ben Stiller movies. Zoolander, Starsky and Hutch, Dodgeball, Tropic Thunder.

Grosse Pointe Blank is one that should be on best comedy lists but usually isn't. My understanding was it was a tough sell due to the body count (14) and audiences couldn't reconcile the "seriousness" of the violence with the comedic theme. Too bad. Might be Cusack's best film.

I liked Grosse Pointe Blank alot (would put it on underrated good movies list) but never thought of it as a comedy, even though there are some funny parts.

Just watched In Bruges last night. GBP is certainly significantly more of a comedy than that. Pretty much every scene between Cusack and Aykroyd, as well as Cusack and Arkin are played strictly for laughs.

"Kung Hustle" and "Shaolin Soccer." Like live action Bugs Bunny or Road Runner cartoons, and some of the most inventive visuals you'll ever see.

All his movies are worth seeing.

I like a lot of Judd Apatow projects.

And I'll concede some Apatow comedies have moments. But GHTTG is all Russell Brand. And I don't think he's the type of individual that actually takes to "direction".

A bunch of movies here that were either on my list or that I like quite a bit. Combined with the music and what is up on the screen, Oh Brother is my favorite Coen Brothers flick. Princess Bride, Defending Your Life, Young Frankenstein are all movies I can see repeatedly and not get tired of them. I have only seen The In-Laws once, but I was very impressed.

Grand Budapest is good, but my favorite Wes Anderson film is Moonrise Kingdom, which rates as one of my favorite films in recent years. Not sure I would classify Moonrise Kingdom as totally a comedy, otherwise it would have been on my list.
