Not sure if this post is a joke or not?
Our admissions standards are much lower then Duke's, for both athletes and non-athletes, and it is not a debate.
Duke has a 13%, UConn is 44%. So lets put this nonsense to bed.
Quoting overall admission rates tells us nothing about admissions standards for athletes. A friend of mine used to teach at Duke and he said admissions would bend tremendously for basketball players. He had multiple players in his classes that would not have gotten onto the Duke campus without a tour pass if they weren't capable of scoring more than 10 ppg. I'm sure UConn gives significant leeway to athletes as well, but there's been no evidence provided that it is more or less than other universities engaged in big time athletics.
