John A is saying complaint was not lodged by an ACC or AAC team. Getting closer to a SEC team lodging the complaint. :)

can we lodge the complaint ourselves anonymously? :) we seem to be the only team that would benefit from this story. Seriously what school was dumb enough to think this would make UCONN look anything but kind. The school that filed the protest is the one risking looking bad if the truth gets out. What will they actually stand to gain from this stupidity?

I think you may have it upon something about lodging the complaint ourselves. Is it a coincidence that DD shows up in the same time frame as the complaint was issued ? ;););)
Finally, after a somnolent summer, the boneyard is starting to heat up.

And that's the way the world will be tomorrow and the next day and the next... and the ... if folks acquiesce to 'the way the world is these days.' We are not merely passengers in life, we can choose to steer the boat in any of the many better directions.

Boo

It's funny Boo, reading the Times and the Guardian and especially the amazingly polarized responses to various policy proposals is quite dismaying for one searching for a path.

And just re-reading the opening chapter's of Bruce Catton's monumental opening to his Civil War trilogy seems to indicate that the type of behavior is hardly new.

Has the rest of the world learned from us?

In her condo in Seattle packing for National Team practice....;)

On further consideration, she may have been on campus tutoring Stewie to prepare them BOTH for National team practice....on to Annapolis!

Where was Sue Bird when all this was happening?
Not sure but I understand she and Dee are driving a very important guests to the ESPYs next year.

Five bucks says it was Holly Warlick.....;):p

Yup I went there..... :D
It's not like we all weren't thinking it.

question:

Even if you thought the Phone call was fishy, wouldn't you check the rules or check with someone who knew the rules first?

Doesn't every school have a compliance person? Isn't that where this complaint would have come from?
Wait Fishy was the one who called? That's got to be a violation somewhere.

This is fine for u conn , always good for positive publicity and keeping your name in the headlines not that we need it. This is a good story.

. . . It sort of reminds me of that photo that appeared of Pat and a recruit for three or four years ago. . .

. . . except that WAS a violation, albeit a very minor one, like the famous phone call to ESPN for
Maya and her Mom.

UConn cited for a secondary violation: LINK
Not so sure that's accurate. It's just being investigated, as all complaints must. Nothing to see here.

The first two paragraphs: "The NCAA has cited UConn for a secondary violation of rules after reviewing the circumstances surrounding Geno Auriemma's congratulatory phone call to Little League star Mo'ne Davis last month.

Secondary violations do not typically result in NCAA penalties. Instead, corrective action is usually taken that includes rules education. A letter of admonishment is usually included and in some cases contact with the specific recruit is banned for a set period of time."

Oh man he is going to be sent to the rules education camp! That would break anyone.

@CarlAdamec: NCAA says Geno Auriemma's phone call to Mo'ne Davis was a secondary rules violation, AD Manuel says.

The NCAA really hates us, lol.

Who are they going to kick around when Geno retires in 2 years after winning his 11th NC game and rides off in the CT sunset?.....

13.1.3.1
Time Period for Telephone Calls—General Rule. Telephone calls to an individual (or his or her relatives or legal guardians) may not be made before July 1 following the completion of his or her junior year in high school (subject to the exceptions below); thereafter, staff members shall not make such telephone calls more
than once per week.

Surprise. Seems NCAA interprets this literally and not in the context of contacts with "prospective student athletes" (a term to which the section reverts when stating exceptions).

I think they just outlawed birthday calls to the 10 year old daughter of an assistant coach. Or to any other young (pre-high school) person.

Chances of an explanation seem slim, and UConn, while disagreeing, chooses to put the matter to rest.

Some clarification would be nice. And we'll all remain curious until we find out who made a "recruiting" issue of this.
