Friday March Madness Games

Hadn't seen Purdue before tonight. They simply don't pass the eye test. Not many excellent athletes, nor do they have much in the way of excellent basketball skills. They might be the poster children for an overrated Big 10.
They're young. They'll be really good next year.

Is there a way to measure which program, since the program has gone to 64 teams, has lost the most NCAA tournament games to teams seeded at least 5 worse than the program at the time of the loss? It would have to be Purdue.
I'm not sure if it's on here, but if I had to guess this would be the site. They have this in the opposite direction, most wins as a lower seeded team

I don't think it is a conspiracy, but it happens a lot. Point me to the game where the small conference school gets all the calls. I will hang up and listen.

I have always believed that the gap between middle of the road P6 teams like Purdue and small conference championship level teams is close to zero. Yet the seeds never bear that out. I didn’t see any biased officiating in this game.

Georgetown had a nice little run of these. But maybe that was just a few of them in a small window, versus more consistent programs that have done it over decades.

San Diego St has some chuckers, wow

As with most teams facing Cuse zone for the first time they haven’t figured it out yet. Cuse made a rep on that.

Arizona and Duke have a longer list than even Purdue.

It's really infuriating that Buddy Boeheim got suddenly good in the middle of the year.

I think Buddy Boeheim is a pretty good player, and actually hides how bad Boeheim's recruiting has been otherwise.

It's early, but San Diego St. in typical "Zone? What's a zone?" mode.
This is how it always goes for Syracuse:
  • sneak into the Tournament with an undeserved 10 or 11 seed
  • luck out with matchups or teams that are baffled by their gimmick defense
  • everyone calls Boeheim a genius even though his teams had to badly underachieve just to get to that point

Their matchup zone is a nightmare for teams that don’t see it regularly. Always has been. But talent wins out eventually and Cuse goes down.

Brutal shooting by SDSU

The kid has always been good despite the boneyard saying he blows.

This board overhyped all year how bad they were. They struggled to beat a solid mid major in December. "They stink!".

Shutting their game off and watching Nova. I've seen this story before. SDSU looks pathetic against the zone. Amazing how they always draw these teams.

They shouldn’t be in, but they got the perfect draw for them.

Shame they didn’t give us the 6 to face them.

SDSU shooting 3 of 17 from beyond the arc so far.

Typical Syracuse Tournament luck, pretty much exactly what I called.

Jump to conclusions much? I don't know how good SDSU is. Syracuse is an NIT caliber team, and one half of basketball against an MWC team is not enough for anyone to change their opinion on that.

SDSU, a very good shooting team, just bricking wide open 3's.

They aren’t wide open. SDSU hasn’t figured it out yet.
