Have you looked at some of the schedules of the teams with better NET rankings than us? Winning games = better NET rating for the most part.

Look at all the SEC teams. Who did Arkansas beat? How about LSU? They have more losses than us. If the field was selected today, would they be above or below us? Those teams suck, and they have better NET ratings than UConn.

But fewer games are better. Or something.

Things I'm watching for:

• the Colgate Cinderella potential
• how long Hartford can hang with Baylor (guess: not long)
• Loyola-Chicago magic again?
• Wisky/UNC maybe the best matchup of the first round
• A full slate of old and new conference mates in the nightcap (please knock out Cuse and not let Nova embarrass the conference)

I expect that experienced small school teams are going to be much tougher than people think. It's hard to pick which ones. I certainly didn't expect Colgate to win, and I still think Arkansas comes back.

Actually, my hat is off to Musselman and the Arkansas program. That team flat out sucks, but they were smart enough to realize that this was the easiest year in history to game the selection criteria, so they did, simply by playing more games. They beat a bunch of tomato cans and now have a 3 seed, which gives them a chance to come back after the horrendous first half they have played. If they were a 6 playing an 11, this game would be over.

Refs are really working hard for Arkansas. There are about 3 uncalled fouls before every Arkansas steal, and then Arkansas rides the Colgate ballhandler all the way to the basket and Colgate gets called for the charge.
