Florida post game thread

Karaban's reverse is what did it. No need for that, just go straight up.
My buddy said the same thing -turning point in game. just go straight up -worst case you get fouled against that other dummy - we had the ball up three , solo loses it , McNeeley gets stripped ,2 missed free throws where you don’t get the rebound and Clayton hitting insane shots ended it - crazy cause I never thought I’d say this, but just the fact that we were the better team , played better and had them. This is probably one of my worst sports losses in a long, long, long long time. This one’s a tough one to take.

3 key moments

Up 6 fast break jstew goes reverse instead of straight up misses.

Alex missed reverse instead of going straight up

Up 3 steal but then the turnover.

Convert anyone of those this is a different game
They were right there to stretch the lead and hopefully put it out of reach, but couldn't.

Seemed to be countless times they had the ball with chances to stretch the lead and let UF close the gap keeping them in striking range.

They played the best D we've seen all season long and made some outstanding plays, but simply missed so many open and makeable looks. Even with that, they gave up some critical rebounds on the defensive end, especially off of missed FTs, that were costly late.

That was a winnable game. Great effort. Proud of our team, but disappointed in the outcome.

We play too cute with the reverse layups sometimes. Wish the guys would seek contact more. But all said, hard to complain about the way they represented today. Hope Solo strengthens his off hand in the off-season, it'll make a world of difference in his development.

Kemba saved us in the E8, and then played awful in the FF. I didn’t remember people calling for him to leave! (Thank you for correcting me - it should remind the off with his crowd that elite freshmen are not finished products).
Yup, much like Ray - 20 min against MSU, 1-5 with 4 fouls and 4 turnovers and just 3-9 from the line.

Lots of people saying regretful things trying to pin the blame on someone...

It's one thing to be upset as a fan, but it was starting to drift into a territory that was beyond that.
Oh come on like we don’t yell at our TVs at home. It’s just talk. Ya think Hurley and Calhoun never said something regrettable.

Great effort. Just a poor shooting game and poor defensive rebounding was the difference between having a huge win and a close loss. Ugh!

UF was there to be had.
And not getting the rebound off their missed foul shots. Little things that added up.

Go back 5/6 games and look at the numbers. At some point the numbers tell you something. I think Stewart deserved more minutes and not only in this game.
The game is not just numbers! I shouldn't have to explain that to basketball fans.

...Can you spill it?
For some reason it auto typed i saw it instead of i didn't see it. I couldn't find it. But a good friend messaged me. Now I know. I'd tell you but It's against by rules

Easily the proudest I’ve been of this team all season. But it sucks to lose. After they missed about 7 or so GREAT looks in the first half, had a feeling it would come back to bite us

If we even shot at expectation from three based on quality of look, we win by 10

Interesting to look at game’s box score. Yes, UConn shot worse from 3 (8/29 vs 9/19), and overall they had more shot attempts (23/64 vs 24/50). UConn fouled Florida shooters more and Florida had 12 more free throw attempts (they were 22/34 vs UConn’s 19/22). Foul totals weren’t too different (UC had 21, FL had 17), and rebounding was fairly even (FL did have 40 to UConn’s 35 which includes those 2 missed 1-and-1 tries at the end). UConn only had 6 turnovers all game (FL had 12).

Stats don’t show blown chances like those missed layups etc. But, even though UConn’s big 3 shot poorly, the defense was as big or even a bigger problem today.

It's against the rules to share information from an unrelated website? Whatever "it" is already leaked on Twitter

Na D wasn’t issue today overall imho, nor was it effort, just missing shots and a couple too many make or break plays went the other way against a really good team

Three observations.
1. We had the better team the entire game. (They had the better clutch star at the end).
2. Every single other team that watched that game said to themselves, "Thank God we don't have to face UConn in the tournament."
3. This is a win if we had characteristic shooting on the open threes we kept generating on offense. Just average would have won it.

Thanks Alex, Samson, and Hassan. As they said in the old west, you died with your boots on.
Keep the nucleus, add the McD freshmen, a couple key portal adds and we are right there again next year.
