Florida post game thread

It was a pattern all year. I agree we had the talent to beat anyone, but this team simply couldnt close out games all year. Lack of clutch gene, lack of ability to make a shot or secure a rebound when it really counts, getting tired legs because not athletic enough, etc. Whatever you want to call it, this team didnt have it.

AK's missed layup at the 3 minute mark was the absolute killer. It would have given us a cushion. After that, the wheels fell off.
Well, it was preceded by Solo not being strong with the ball on the sideline up 3, and was followed by Liam getting poked away from behind to lead to a runout that put them up 3.

Then we tied it with a big Solo 3 and didn’t get a defensive rebound on a missed FT down 1.

There were a lot of pivotal moments.

Our team played like the number one seeded team today. Yes, we should have won but their All American showed up at the right time for them. That's what All Americans are supposed to do in March. They kill teams.

(That John Wall game still haunts me.)

Proud of our team and I did see our Championship DNA.

I don't know. They were 2 points behind one of the best teams in the country.

Agree. With McNeeley not playing well they should've put Stewart in for the experience at crunch time. ...
This is the craziest thing I've read today lol...

We had a chance to win the game! We don't play players to get experience...we put the best players on the floor, and LM is in that top rotation.

I was hoping for win for ‘selfish ‘ personal reasons. I have a life threatening disease with no cure so I may be around next year at least I have a chance at the football UConn season. I apologize if It appears that I am looking for sympathy. I am not just want to say good buy to you Yarders in case I am correct. Been a fan of both UConn basketball and football since the early 1960.’s. Good luck UConn and good luck Yatders.
Prayers…you will be in my thoughts.

Ya, the one he got hammered on and they swallowed their whistle
Game changer. Would love to see the replay on this. Danny referenced it twice in the post game. That's a foul, end of story

I’m going to take an opportunity to blow off a little steam and be petty…

Just noting that “horrible” Dan Hurley woulda gave mad props to Florida in the immediate post-game interview if we had won that game. But not a peep about us from Golden or anyone from Florida.

But Hurley's the monster villain Coach.

Then Hurley is interviewed later and has nothing but respect and accolades for Florida, wears his heart on his sleeve, and shows you how much he cares about all of his kids as players and human beings.

Let’s reload, get better in the offseason and go after #7.

Scrappy & Voodoo. Will be thinking and rooting for you both to see it.

Stewart had a higher FG% and 3pt% this year. It wouldn’t be crazy to sub him in for a guy who was 1-7 from three and 5-15 otherwise.

I get that McNeeley is the future NBA player, but let’s be real here.

What a game & season! Love the fight, they went out on one of their best even if the shooting %s weren't great. Would have loved for those 3s to drop, but Florida didn't make FTs either. The only change I think could have been made would have been to play Stewart a little more for McNeeley since his shots weren't dropping. Diarra is MVP of the season to me, he exemplifies Husky play and I wish him the best on his journey now that he has graduated.

How was the hand directly to McNeeley's face not a T1 or at least reviewed? Insane to me based on all of the weaksauce Ts I've seen this season called.

Can't wait to see what next season holds!

Golden was too pumped about sliding in undergrad DMs to give credit

Tons of respect for this team and staff. The pieces don't quite work together but they just never quit this season, and many other teams in similar positions would have done so.

Being at the game, the Gator fans got really loud and made it feel like we were playing in Gainesville at times. Credit to them.

At the end of the day, they had Clayton. We've obviously had guys who make brutally tough shots with multiple hands in their face in big situations. This time they had one of those and we didn't. No shame in this loss. Very proud to be a fan.

I said we win in reed gets 8-6. He got 5-8(?8). We lose by 2. If he gets us 8 points. We win. Bad early foul on that high hedge. Killed our secret weapon.

The game made up for the whole up and down season. Great effort, great gameplan. Wish we could have shot better but that’s cards
Proud considering how the season unfolded. Reminds me of one of our early 2000's tourny games post 99 Championship. Stoked for the future again.
