Florida post game thread

Indeed. 4 point swing in a 2 point game.
We can complain all we want about the missed rebounds but keep in mind Florida had a pretty long stretch where they missed more than half of them. Quite a few things on each side didn't unfold as they normally would.

I think your quoting someone else lol, rhymes with ‘Love’
Oops sorry about that…..my bad…. apologies you are correct….no good reason to miss that one.

A very tough loss. We had this game. Had it. But Liam happened at a critical point and Hurley stayed with him.

And Florida had Clayton.

Before the game, I didn't think we'd win and just didn't want to get blown out. During the game, I honestly believed we had a good shot at winning. That just made it so much more disappointing when we lost. Give Clayton credit for taking his team across the finish line.

Thank you UConn for an exciting game. You played with heart and gave it all you had. We'll all miss Hass, Samson, and AK (if he's gone too).

This is what I saw:

1. 2 evenly matched teams
2. UConn playing better than Florida and controlling the game
3. Florida heaving off balance 3s 6 for 9 for clayton
4. With a minute and 30 seconds left, Karajan drove one in one and was fouled hard, but there was no call, ensuing 3 pointer from Florida and fouls called had UConn chasing the lead desperately

Whatever you say, game changed in the non call to an obvious foul on Karabans drive
Every Florida drive resulted in a foul call.

Not to mention Florida shooting 9-19 from three. Crazy good. Another theme of the season, though not much you could do with Clayton's sidestep, off balance threes. No defense for that.
Much worse teams shot like that against UConn all season.

Next year, maybe it won’t be every other teams Super Bowl to play UConn.

Few open 3s go down and we're looking at a third straight S16. Tough, but that's how the game goes sometimes.

Shoutout to Diarra/Johnson, they gave it everything they had to keep the streak alive, truly great examples of the type of heart you need to accomplish greatness. Same goes for Karaban if this is it.

The old guard needed more from the younger guys and transfers to replace what we lost, and they came up short, albeit in a effort we should be proud of. Everyone out there wanted it so bad, anyone Dan wants back to chase number 7 is welcome in my book.

Shoutout Dan Hurley and his staff for another coaching masterclass, we're still so lucky the best coach in 'ckn sport is leading the charge for us. He got more out of these guys than I think anyone else could. He, and the team, deserve our full support.

honestly Danny has some explaining to do on his rotations and shot allocation.

instead of going to what is working he sticks to his guns and doubles down on what isn’t.
Yup. You’re a better coach than Danny.

I was hoping for win for ‘selfish ‘ personal reasons. I have a life threatening disease with no cure so I may be around next year at least I have a chance at the football UConn season. I apologize if It appears that I am looking for sympathy. I am not just want to say good buy to you Yarders in case I am correct. Been a fan of both UConn basketball and football since the early 1960.’s. Good luck UConn and good luck Yatders.
Voodoo, I am so sorry to hear this. As I posted for Scrappy, listen to Temery, it isn't over until you say it is.

We had the talent, IMO. We just didn't have great execution. At some point during the chat with around 7 mins left, I posted that we can't afford to keep missing bunnies as eventually FL would start hitting a bunch of threes. And they did.

I don't know how many layups and putbacks we missed, but it was definitely noticeable as a lot. Just get two more and we're still in it. We knew our deep shooters have been inconsistent, but I don't think any of us expected to miss that much within 5 feet of the basket.
It was a pattern all year. I agree we had the talent to beat anyone, but this team simply couldnt close out games all year. Lack of clutch gene, lack of ability to make a shot or secure a rebound when it really counts, getting tired legs because not athletic enough, etc. Whatever you want to call it, this team didnt have it.

AK's missed layup at the 3 minute mark was the absolute killer. It would have given us a cushion. After that, the wheels fell off.

Yeah I agree sometimes Hurley is too loyal and doesn’t go with hot hand enough. Stewie deserved some more mins, felt like his stroke always has a chance of going in.

Well, on the bright side now we don’t have to debate whether or not sweet 16 or elite 8 banner are allowed to get hoisted anymore

We win 13 in a row and take the #1 seed to the brink and people still can't handle losing??? So soft. Wait until life REALLY disappoints them. You had to know this result was a strong possibility going in.
Please......excuses are excuses

Pretty much the difference in the game at the end. He made off balance three after off balance three... Simply ridiculous.

Proud the fight that we showed, and I dare to say we were the better team for 37-38 minutes.
Yeah, I would be more upset if the shots he made weren’t so well contested.

The dude is a star and we still should have won that game.

But we didn’t and made a couple mental errors late and that’s all it take vs. a #1 seed. You can’t turn call Ball) w/ lead and a couple minutes left - you just can’t.

Don’t protect call - turn over - you’re going to get burned.

But they had a dude hitting shots that you just don’t see go in that often and still only won by 2!

When Diarra and some other staters sat
Aidan and Stewart were able to maintain the lead and dererve credit for that stint
I thought we really have a great chance with our starters rested with a lead.
Thats a very good offensive team who made us pay for are mistakes over that strrech. Its amazing how poorly we shot and were still in it.
Same here. I was stoked that Diarra was getting such a long rest while they maintained the lead. Alas, it was not meant to be.
