Fall Camp 2018 Coverage - #RiseAsOne

I don't see him as a straight replacement per se to O'Reilly, just a guy that can help carry the RB practice workload. In the long run, maybe Banton could be the short yardage guy Hopkins was supposed to be.

Zavier/Mensah/Black and Gillespie - get ready to really work.

I want to see Black move up in the depth chart. I know Zavier is killing it in practice. Unfortunately we won’t know till it translates to game time

I wonder if Edsall wishes he tried harder to keep him?
I doubt it. He would have helped us, but that's just not Randy.

Very sad for O'Reilly. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Concerning Buss... Remember he had great success at Milford Prep. That place is hard core and only the strongest get through. At RMU he took a beating regularly, yet he prevailed. Then in 2015 he was one of only 20 athletes in the country selected as a finalist for the STATS National Freshman Player of the Year award. Mentally and physically Buss is very tough.

I’m really interested in how Jones works out at DE. I think he’d be great at NT, but wonder if he’s really fast enough to seal the edge against quick backs here when he needs to get outside. If he really is as fast and strong as everyone says, why isn’t the dude at Bama? There’s a reason you don’t see 350 lb defensive ends. If one did come along, why would they end up here at UConn? I do think he’s talented, but find myself asking these questions.

In the 3-3 he doesn't really have any pass rushing responsibilities. That comes from the safeties and linebackers. If you only have three down linemen you have to hope they're big so they can clog up lanes and take on double teams. I think his strength at DE will be soaking up guards and tackles on power/outside zone runs freeing up the next level to make tackles

I don't know what to think about that clip of Jones putting Crozier on roller skates. Good, bad, both?

I hear ya, and agree that it’s a decent strategy. I just wonder how agile he’ll be at the LOS at stopping runs to the outside. At the very least he’ll be awesome at taking up blockers and freeing up the backers to cause issues. I’d like to see him and Caleb Thomas together

Jones looks massive over Crozier. Not realistic to expect Jones to be blocked by a single lineman.

Yeah I'd prefer Jones play nose but he's a tremendous athlete for his size and we don't really have anyone else to play end

Hey I have a cousin who picked the Cubs to win it all EVERY year. He was never right. Until he was.
