ESPN Tonight: Tremont Waters & Steve Enoch

10.4 Rebounds per 40 minutes is bad?

He maxed out a 7.6 per 40 while here . . .
Nobody plays 40 mins in CBB, if they did lots of players would average 10 rebounds, especially if they are 6-10. Sorry but 5 rebounds & 1/2 block in 20 mins per game for a 6-10 250 guy is not anything special, it's ordinary.

Enoch developed a jump shot with his free time sitting out a year but his defense is still pretty bad.

So he went from bad to ordinary. He must have learned something. Thanks. I got what I was looking for.

Or he is just 2 years older and it's a natural progression from bad to ordinary & ordinary is less than good.

Enoch looks like a solid 4 year college big. He gets better each year, but he has some limits. In Enoch's case, he is not a shot blocker/good defensive player and an average rebounder for a big which probably relates to his lack of explosiveness. His shooting and offensive skills have improved.

He could help UConn this year as he and Carlton could have been paired at center which would have made UConn a better team. That said, Enoch was not leading UConn to the AAC championship.

It is interesting to compare Enoch and Carlton. With Enoch gone, Carlton has gotten more minutes to develop.

Stats per 40 minutes:

Enoch: 19.6 pts, 10.4 reb, 1.3 blocks, 0.5 steals, 0.25 assists, 2.7 TOs, 5.4 fouls (FG % = 0.572)

Carlton: 16.2 pts, 11.1 reb, 3.0 blocks, 0.9 steals, 0.5 assists, 2.4 TOs, 5.9 fouls (FG % = 0.616)

I'm not an Enoch hater by any means, but it is damning that Carlton averages more assists and less turnovers than Steve. Up until recently, I think Carlton had only 2 assists on the entire year. Woof.

Edit: Josh has 6 total assists and 30 total turnovers. Enoch has 3 (!!!) assists and 32 turnovers.

10.4 rebounds per 40 is solid for a big, but not outstanding. Cobb is averaging 14.2 rebounds per 40 minute, Whaley 11.3, and Carlton 11.1.

Think back to some UConn teams which were good rebounders:

UConn rebounds per 40 minutes:

2008/2009:
Thabeet 13.6
Adrien 11.5
Edwards 10.3
Robinson 9.5

2003/2004:
Okafor 14.2
Armstrong 12.3
Villanueva 11.2
Boone 10.5

He’s better than anything we have. His defense is still close to awful, he’s 2 years older he should be better. So many on this board didn’t like him enough to have him take any of Brimahs minutes but he should have. Ollie’s partially to blame so is Enoch.

Neither Carlton or Enoch by themselves is going to get anyone excited but together in our lineup they would have been very useful and other players would have benefitted IMO.

To me the most amazing thing about the 08/09 & 03/04 teams is that we had 4 guys on both teams averaging 10 or more rebounds per 40................just wow! Fair to say that Enoch or Carlton wouldn't have seen much playing time on either of those teams.

In today's basketball world, I don't think Okafor, Charlie V, and Thabeet would have been one and done or only stayed 2 years. This is why the Enochs and Carltons are important in college basketball as they will stay four years. It's just that you can't expect much early in their careers.

Bro. One plays losers in the AAC where some games are over by halftime. One plays some of the best teams in the ACC. Please. No one on our teams is stopping Zion or Duke.

Bro neither did Enoch stop Zion when it counted. He didn’t get a big rebound or make a stop when they were gagging he was part of it!

You forgot the part where you claim Carlton is better! Bro do better!

Carlton has better stats. That doesn't mean he's a better player. Indeed Carlton got his numbers against lesser competition than Enoch. But Enoch's stats are subpar for a high DI starting center. Maybe by his senior year he'll be an above average DI center. Right now he's a quality backup or mediocre-to-poor starter.

This board sometimes. Enoch is a lot better than Carlton.

Enoch has better size and athleticism, a better shot, and more NBA potential. Carlton is limited, but he seems smarter and better able to capitalize on the talents he does have. I think when Josh's career is done, we'll be very glad he attended UConn.

However Enoch does, he's our past, Carlton and a recruit to be named later are our future. Good luck to Steve, but let's hope Josh continues his growth and becomes a quality player.

Agree but only because of size and offensive "potential" certainly not consistency or defense. Based on growth from where they began as Huskies Carlton has improved more and by a lot from freshman to soph.. He may already be just as good on D despite size limitations, actually much smarter. Again wouldn't ever say no to him vs any of our guys now, but let's not think we lost a stud. He's just a good player, shows signs of NBA potential then shows a nice Euro career more often. All in all he's not ours, he left hope he does ok could kinda care less though.

Never claimed that Bro. Find that for me and you won't so do better or stay quiet!
Well it's already kind of obvious you seem to have missed the joke & tongue in cheek nature and have let your passive aggressive side take over so - whatever. I guess you prefer "Bruh" to extenuate the absurdity?
