I agree. The NBE could be better than a completely gutted ACC. If FSU, Clemson, GTech, Miami all go to the Big 12 and UNC, UVA, Maryland, and Duke go Big 10, and NC State and VTech go SEC the ACC is only left with WF, BC, Cuse and Pitt. 2 of those 4 could go Big 12 to bring it to 16 so really the ACC could be completely finished. Not worth joining at all. The last two standing would probably be forced to come to us rather than the other way around. I think this would also cause the Pac 12 to scrounge up 4 western schools to get to 16 as well and the age of the 4, 16 team super-conferences will have dawned.
If the ACC gets poached it's going to be a fire sale. As I've said before the attractiveness of their members and the low value of their contract will have sealed their fate.
That's a lot of "if." Quite frankly, I would be ecstatic if only half of that "if" took place. It would leave the ACC very weak after losing half of those teams. The interesting thing is how it would affect their tv contract, if at all. I would imagine that ESPN lawyers would find a way to reduce their contract size based on the loss of teams (since they were almost in arbitration based on the gaining of two teams). If that is legally possible, you could possibly imagine a scenario where the NBE could poach back!!
Alright, time to put down my LSD tabs....the black-light is wearing out...
