Nothing wrong with big guards, but if teams press and get under you it could be trouble. If TN is the guy, and I hope he is, you better get some insurance and bring in a high level ball handler to back him up.

Ot Snow % temp thread is needed.
Sidenote i lived in Erie Pa for 2 years.not cold but snowed 2 to 4 inches most days starting in August.... lake affects snow could be a thread also
Lived in Erie for a long time and never saw this haha. Was lucky if it snowed starting in November, but most of the time it started December and the Peak wouldn't open until a few days before Christmas.
Coldest is easily Wildcat in January on windholds; -27 at the base with 30mph winds. Worth it for the powder still

I haven't seen or read a Hurley, Gaffney or Sool quote anywhere that told anyone what the conversation was about. So that would suggest that it is made up most likely to help justify someone's thoughts on the matter. Could it be possible or even likely, yes. Has it been proven as fact, not in this thread.
Speculation and innuendo are grist for the mill.

Keeps the posts coming and going.

It does get frosty there. Here on the east coast, things are a bit warmer. The alarm went off at 5:30a yesterday. It was 79° going up to a high of 92°.

Spring has sprung in South Florida! :)

95 in Southern California yesterday. Was great to jump in the pool after work. Of all the things I miss about the Northeast the cold is not one of them.

Good god I had windchills of -35 at the house this winter just like every other winter.

Now I do live in one of the windiest places in NY according to Shell Wind Energy that did all the surveys before the town put the axe on wind turbines.

Do you like watching sports so much earlier in the day? Aside from not having family/friends out there, I think that would be my biggest mental barrier to moving out west.

Boat could jump a foot and a half higher
I’m as big a Boat fan as you’ll find and agree about all the praise for him here; I’m somewhat surprised at how dismissive people are about RJ. No, he’s not Boat, but he did earn first team all BE last season and was without question the best scorer on the team. Of all the problems we had, he was not one of them.

Did Hurley really tell them that? Where did that come from?

This was my question too - I didn't understand where the idea was coming from that Hurley told these guys there were no minutes. MAYBE what he said scared them off, but I haven't seen anything like that.

Let’s stay focused. We’ve had all time greats that went from warm to cold. Ray Allen (South Carolina), Emeka Okafor (Texas), Jeremy Lamb (Georgia), just to name a few.

Thats typically how these things go. Nothing official was reported but its intuition based on circumstance and timing of transfers. Both were announced after they met with Hurley. Almost always that means the coach told the player things they didn't want to hear. Honest question, if Hurley told Gaffney he was next years starting pg or would see a much bigger role, do you really think he would leave?

I hear that! I love CT for about 4 weeks in the fall. Warm days, cool nights, colors on the trees, cider bought fresh from the orchard. Then those cold, rainy days come where the damp cold seems to just go right through you. Then the snow and ice.

I'll take the endless summer every time. Down here, ice is something that occurs in your drink. Speaking of which . . .

EDIT: Pizza! I miss CT pizza. Also, has anyone seen Newton on campus?

I really like Cole, but Boat was a completely different type of player. Despite his size, Boat threw down many dunks while in a UConn uniform. I don't recall Cole ever dunking. Great player, just nowhere near the athlete that Boat was.

I don't know why people on here would make up stories about what Hurley did or didn't say to players. They have no idea.

So let me ask this for the people who believe he told Diggins and Gaffney they wouldn't play next year. Or that he might have told them they're the starting pg next year if he wanted them to be.

First, from what we've seen from Hurley does he seem like the type who would blatantly tell a player they wouldn't play next season? He seems to tell players what they would need to do to get on the court more next season. Doesn't that seem more like him?

Second, do you ever think he would tell a player that they have a certain position locked up for next season? Of course not. We've heard it from multiple recruits and players that he tells them they need to work for their playing time. Right?

Obviously Diggins and Gaffney had bad experiences this past season because they weren't good enough to play more. And they didn't see that changing next year. So they left. End of story.

Cause and effect.

Is Hurley?
Since he isn’t at the tournament today I’d have to imagine him and Kimani are the guys on campus taking care of business today. My knowledge of how the visits go is that they’ll usually fly in to Hartford on Friday and stay over there before spending the remainder of the weekend on campus.

It’s so hard to dunk in games at the height. This is even more true for a two foot jumper like Boatright because it means it’s much harder to dunk on breakaways because you have to gather and slow down before jumping. It’s amazing the amount of dunks he had at uconn. Even Someone like Jackson probably isn’t even close to career dunks as boat.

You get used to it pretty quickly. Now it feels odd to wait around until noon for a football game on Sunday. The 4 pm weekday UConn starts are not ideal I’ll admit.

Def not. I don't think it's always as clear as the coach saying "you have no role on this team next year" I doubt that's what's being said. But obviously the tone wasn't as peachy as they wanted.
