I've had the chance to watch him play in person a couple of times. He really dominates the paint area at the high school level with his 7'1" frame. Obviously the collegiate level is a whole new ball game but will be interesting to see how he blossoms up at Storrs.

Can't remember the last Bristol Central player that UConn MBB got - proud alum today!

Where is the clown show who said that we were out because of a new school entering the mix last Tuesday?
That’s who I was looking for! Apparently he banned himself like he said he’d do.

Are u sure u have the right guy? I have been thrilled since day one about the Big East move and having followed recruiting since the 90s, there’s zero doubt it has helped immensely.

What I have Definitely been critical of Hurley not taking a tactical grad transfer after having watched games without Bouk and our inability to score And especially lack of creators. I’m hopeful the freshman solve those woes. But a shooter or Creator would have been great. Maybe that’s part of reason we have some staff turnover, who knows.

I don’t see how anyone can criticize recruiting HS with this staff. We are recruiting at a high level, beating stiff competition regularly - the Sanogo pickup was one of the most unexpected, big time gets in my many years of following back to the mid to late 1990s.
Yeah it's not you, it's 7774 who was making these claims

.-.
Not only that but then the other guy chimes in with “needs to be solid behind the arc”. If this guy is shooting 3s for us I think we have much bigger issues.
I see it the opposite way. Traditional centers are becoming extinct in the NBA. Even a guy like Embiid takes about 20-25% of his shots from beyond the arc. If he's shooting 3s for us, we're winning a national championship because there's no college team that could defend that

No recruit is ever a sure thing unless his name is Zion Williamson. However, I don’t know how any real UConn fan can look at our staff and say that they don’t trust Hurley & co to properly develop this kid.
Melo was another... (remember him being a man among boys) could be wrong.

Michael Beasley another name that comes to mind

Years ago, the coaching staff had to work with Hasheem Thabeet just so he could catch a basketball. He used to have to stick his hands in sand buckets and squeeze. DC is so much more advanced. He has good hand eye coordination and really good feet. He is not even a senior in high school and bigs take longer to get acclimated in their body. The future is very bright for him as he will have time and coaching on low post moves, positioning and strengthening his body.

Sorry for thinking it was you, somebody jacked your name.

These reasons are why I think clingan has a pretty high floor as far as what he will be as a player at UConn. His ceiling will depend on his development but with his size and coordination he’s gonna make an impact on the college game. Let’s just hope his work ethic and the coaches pushes him take him into the rare air in college basketball.

I thought it was you who took that stance but maybe it was someone else who had a similar handle. Sorry about that. Anyone else remember who it was?

@navery12 posted that it was 7774 - a rip7774 rip-off.
Yup, found some evidence.

I remember a game at the "Civic Center" back in the dark days of the early 80's when we were a 20 point or so dog to Syracuse and started to come back late and the crowd really got into it. Bruce K was key, had a great game and we won.
The best part, almost, were two guys in front of us who had bet Syracuse to win and when we got within striking distance they basically said, let's go UConn.

Played against Bruce K he was a soph at BCHS I was a senior. (Todd Hassler was the stud for them) About 6’8 or so had some game but was very soft. Didn’t think he could make it as a Husky but good for him he became a nice player.

If DC is 7'3" by the time he steps on campus would he be the tallest player in the country? The kid would have a 5 inch height advantage on a normal 6'10" center...jesus

lol…I missed that one.

I said I’d like him to be automatic from 15’ and solid behind the arc. That’s how the game is played now. Yes, he can dunk and alter shots, but being able to shoot continues to be something needed in this era to have a great career. He already shoots the 3 in games at near 40%, I’d just like him to develop it more in the next year so he can get open looks and clean shots with a big defender in his face.

The days of the big center with no outside skills is over. If he plays that way for us, he’ll be shortchanging his pro career big time. A big like him needs to shoot the ball to open up the floor for everyone else. This isn’t the 80’s.

Jackson also was a 40% 3pt shooter in high school so just take those numbers with a grain of salt. But it is a good sign he steps out and tries to hit them because he’s gonna need to develop some sort of outside shot if he wants to go to the NBA

Hmm, best player in the CIAC? Why does that not excite me.
Maybe because you have trouble with reading comprehension. Comment was "the most dominant player we’ve seen in the CIAC in at least the last 15 years in my opinion. "

Solid behind the arc implies that he will be shooting a significant amount of 3s. I’d be happy to take the under on 10 for 3 point attempts in his entire career at UConn. He’s not a stretch 4, he’s a center. He’s not gonna be roaming around outside the arc. Your comment was ridiculous. Your attempt to back it up is putting you very close to HuskyWarrior territory.

Have you watched our offense? You sound like someone who didn't bother to watch our team last season.

Sanogo/Whaley/Carlton probably spent more time with the ball in their hands outside the 3 point line than 95% of centers in D1. We use handoffs with the 5 on the top of the key SO much.

A 5 who can pass or shoot from the top of the key would be a game-changer. Clingan has that potential even if his skill level isn't quite there yet. (If it was he'd be going to the g league)

Sanogo and Carlton were practically useless out there. One of the reasons I hope we change our offense up or at least add to it.

I agree with you on one thing, we need to adjust our offense. Not just tactically but think fast break. Chief has no problem with a center throwing an outlet pass and the guards or swing man converting a layup before the Big gets to half court.
As for half court, we need to graduate from the top of the circle weave, space better, put more shooters on the floor and move the ball better.

Half our fan base thinks it is 1990. So out of touch with what good teams have at this point. Clingan will shoot if he’s a star. I think he’ll be shooting plenty.

2004 Okafor shouldn't shoot from 10 feet out, but yes game has evolved even since the early 2000s, will be great if Clinigan can shoot.

I'm going to ask it, who are #2-5 on that list?

Yes I watched our offense. Carlton/Sanogo took absolutely ZERO 3s. Whaley is not a 7 footer. Clingsn is not an outside threat, nor do we need him to be. You guys are crazy. How many 7 footers are there in college hoisting 3s w regularity?? Maybe Garza. I’ll be happy to take anyone’s wager that wants to bet me he doesn’t take more than 10 3s.

That’s because UConn has been extremely late to the party of recruiting the type of 5 who can step out and make defenders clear the paint. We’ve been getting killed by it for over a decade (remember Roy Hibberts 3?). I’m glad Hurley was finally able to get us the guy who can hopefully change that
