This was an interesting look for our possible starting front-court next year. It was also the first game where Dorka could play most of the time as a C with Liv out. Dorka looks much much better as a C than a PF. It seemed like it worked well for Aaliyah too. We have had to use a three big rotation mostly because of having Aubrey out. If not for that, Dorka could have played almost all of her minutes at C and been more effective, and likewise Aaliyah and Aubrey could have focused just on their more natural PF position.

If Dorka and Aaliyah can play together next year like they combined tonight, then it is much easier to feel good when teamed with the anticipated guard ultimate starters of Paige, Azzi and Caroline. Like much of the season, however, one game does not constitute a trend, particularly when you remember how little we got from Dorka and Aaliyah in the prior game.

I do feel that Dorka at C instead of PF makes a very big difference though.

Man - Nika was flying down the court tonight. And CW proved she can drive around anyone. And Dorka and Aaliyah were sensational. Great bounce passing and overhead passing, too. EW and were holding their ground on defense. What a night!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I wasn't able to watch but was checking the box score regularly from mid-second quarter on. On my first check I was prepared to see bad stuff and was pleasantly surprised to see us up 13 or so. Without ONO or Caroline Ducharme. Looked at the box score, expecting to see Azzi and CW doing the heavy scoring lifting. But no, AE and Dorka were handling the scoring along with rebounding. For a moment I thought some alternative universe had intruded into my space time. After convincing myself that wasn't likely I figured those two would cool off. Instead each check showed the lead building and AE and Dorka keeping their ridiculous shooting averages. What a world we live in! No one but no one would have predicted the MOV or how dominant our frontcourt would be.

EW has been amazing all season. Has to be playing with some nagging injury yet shows up every game, possibly at some cost to her pro future. The glue
Evina was interviewed by the radio announcers several games ago (I believe it was after the Providence game when she scored 13) and was asked about her previously inconsistent play. She replied that she had been going through some dark times for various reasons but was feeling better. No mention of a physical injury.

More optimism for Sunday.
I wonder who will be the stars
against Marquette? Maybe Caroline?
with cameo roles by ---------- ( fill in
the blanks.... but don't leave out Christyn ).
Let’s Curb The Enthusiasm.Sunday will be tough.Team has to travel to Milwaukee and will be dealing with tired legs.Marquette will make it a physical game.

Yes, Doug announced he would be retiring either just before or just after the beginning of the season. I wish he'd been a little more entertaining in the halftime interview with Maria.
Dang. He finally gets a blue-chip big and he goes and retires. And he might have only one more chance to beat Geno.

I googled "doug bruno retiring" and got nothing. His contract is through 2023-2024 season.

Few thoughts:
*it was the best game of DJ as a Husky and what a great time for it with ONO and CD missing.
*Great game by AE but come on...make those layups...she missed at least 3-4 layups in this game.
*CW had a great aggressive game and her defense in the first half fueled her offense for the second half.
*Nika made a shot in tis game which i saw her shoot for the firs time. Great defense and was distributing the ball real well.
*E came to play tonight. Her steal and basket was brilliant
*Azzi couldn't shoot tonight but she is such a smart kid that she found a way to contribute in other areas (rebounding, ball handling and defense).
*The team defense was real good this game. Players were communicating and helping one another. .
*If you were told that ONO and CD will not play, Azzi will score onyl4 points and Morrow will have a 20 points and 16 rebound game, would you have believed that UConn would win by 24?
*Geno coached a real good game with his substitutions all on point.
Now, can we please have ONO and CD back and later on Paige back so this team can start really to roll...
