Tough loss. I thought it was nice to see Stewart really step up. And honestly, I'm tired of the complaining about the refs. UCONN is far and away the jewel of the big east. If they really wanted to do something about it, they would throw their weight around and get it solved.

It was a shooting foul. What can we do other than shrug and move on?

The Good -
  • The first 7-10 minutes of offense was BEAUTIFUL. Can we have more of that?
  • Great work on Kalkbrenner by our bigs in the first half, he could never get comfortable. Unfortunately he picked it up in the second half with a few monster dunks and 4 clutch points
  • Shoutout Diarra for excellent play on both ends of the ball. Jaylin Stewart played great as well, and Solo making those clutch shots was really fun
The Bad -
  • 6 missed bunnies at the rim? 7?
  • Jamiya Neal's career high was 21 (not anymore). He had 17 in the first half, every other Creighton player had 18 points on 5-20. We got cooked by one guy
  • 4 points on 2-11 shooting from the bench. Our bench got outscored almost 3x by Isaac Traudt (5.2 PPG player)
We have Butler, Xavier, and DePaul before we get Marquette in a few weeks. Looking for some big wins in this stretch. As always, let's go Huskies

Can't win if you can't defend the 3 and get beat off the dribble. Can't win when we get out rebounded. We got 6 rebounds from our starting bigs. 7 including JS.

AK 3-12. 0-3 3 rebounds 1 assist. Need much more than that.

How was that not a shooting foul and why can't they review that? They review everything now
If they ever implemented this, it would go the way of the pass interference reviews in the NFL. Refs would make it immediately and very clear that they would refuse to overturn anything with that much judgment and admit fault.

5 toughest games on BE schedule still left...need Liam back asap. Other than first 5 mins never felt like game would go our way and refs certainly didn't help the cause (as usual).

We missed so many shots at the rim today, we have no one to blame but ourselves. We kinda stink right now.
And yet if the refs have working eyesight we're (likely) going to OT. Not gonna say it's pretty, but despite that we were in position to win the game if it weren't for the refs

They took away the three point line. And they did it with ease after the first three minutes. The word is out. Every team is going to drive Solo off the three point line. We are going to need special plays to get Solo open from the arc.

Things it pains me to say:
1. We're not that good
2. I hope Danny coaches UConn for decades to come, but as long as he's our coach, we will have to play every game 5 on 8
3. Last year's team was the smartest basketball team I've ever seen. This year? Not so much
4. I really like Solo and Jaylin, but they are among the worst one-on-one defenders we've ever had
5. Alex is, sadly, playing himself right out of the first round of the draft

It didn't help and it was a foul that should have been called but we still played awful.

Jstew and Diarra were bright spots Defense still needs lots of work. Let a guy get hot who doesnt normal kill teams. These offensive droughts are killer can't go down 8-10 multiple times a game and hope to win. Also can't miss multiple shots close up.

I'm just going to point out some positives, because the negatives were covered.

Stewart is making himself out to be a legit 6th-man wing.

We wondered if Solo's 45%+ shooting was going to be an early season anomaly. It was not.

Samson is really getting comfortable in his role on offense. Finally passing the ball well.
