The announcers said at end of the game “this is the benefit of not fouling” at the end of the game for Creighton.

I was yelling at the TV “No this is the benefit of not getting called for fouls for the entire game.”

Somehow, during the loose balls, they can WWF on our players with no fouls being called, but when we reach to grab a ball, it’s suddenly a foul.

Hate to say it, but karaban did kind of hurt us today… those three or four miss lay ups and miss defensive assignments came back to bite us from the end. And that last shot was just not good enough.

It was a very high-level basketball game and Creighton was playing out of their minds, so it is what it is.

Once again, I love the way that Stewart played and Hassan a true champion. Johnson got called for some Phantom fall, but he played well.

Mahaney just has to be so much better than he is right now, if we want to compete at the highest level levels.
And the moment creighton touched the ball it’s a jump ball. Kalkbrenner is slower than molasses in the paint, we get our hands all over the ball but it’s a foul every time. He should be called for 3 seconds basically every time he had the ball in the post.

I think you could find 15 miserable calls or non called that went their way.

We didn’t play well, but that doesn’t mean the refs should be able to ensure we don’t win by making biased calls. Creighton wasn’t great either save for one guy going off and Ashworth hitting a few shots from mars

The team held back and didn’t put effort in? I hear this all the time and it’s never true. It’s players beating other players with quickness and skill. Or it’s help defense on Kalkbrenner leaving a 3 open or the reverse. These players are trying and trying hard.
If you listened to DH in the huddle at the after Creighton came roaring back against them after an early lead he was clearly heard to say on tv:
"our defense got soft; you got soft. You let them get right back into it because you were soft". etc. I don't think Danny agrees with your summary comments. Mostly that was Solo getting continually toasted by Neal. I don't think it is Solo being lazy. He seems to have deer in the headlights or anxiety looks in his eyes at times. I'm not giving up on him. I think he is too good an athlete and just needs to keep listening to the coaches. We have seen so many young players blossom over time with coaching. He just needs to listen and believe. He is still only a midseason sophomore.

I was watching the game while playing poker so with no sound. Watching the game now. It really is too bad we lost the game as the crowd did everything they could to give us an edge.

The reality is everything we thought were strengths are not as much strengths.

Ball is a great shooter but he can not or will not play defense.

Johnson is a more effective player than Reed because Reed just disappears. We thought that could be coached up but it looks like the progress is slow.

AK what can you say he just does not have the skill set to be the main guy. Don’t think he ever will. His is defended the same way every game and the other team gets the same good results.

Diarra is clearly our best player. Let than one marinate…..he was a great energy guy off the bench last year and this year he is our heart and soul.

Liam coming back will help but we are just not consistent enough at anything to be a very good team. Just like all have said maybe a top 25 team but just don’t see how these pieces will elevate to be much more than a at best second weekend team. But if we get behind in the first round game the ghosts is years past could show up again.

Just disappointed as I thought we would be better than we are…..McDermott seems to have our number 2-7 against him. If Hurley and staff figures out a way to get this team playing more competitive and closer to there overall potential it will be the best coaching job he has pulled off at UConn. Honestly man for man we are more talented than Creighton but we were not a better basketball “team”.

Also Kalkbrenner could Diarra on that dive for the ball in the first half and that was definitely a shooting foul on Diarra at the end of the game.

I’m not surprised at all at where we are. To be really good, we needed a huge jump from Solo and Stew, we needed Samson to contribute more offensively and protect the rim, we needed Mahaney to be really good and we needed McNeeley to be as good as advertised. For all of that to happen was a big ask.

I actually came into the season thinking Diarra might be our best player and I knew AK couldn’t create off the dribble. I’m just disappointed the all star coaching staff hasn’t blown me away again with their genius. Reality is, you can’t win natties every year.

There’s still time for another amazing transformation, but our flaws seem a little too obvious this time around. We need more defensive speed and offensive firepower. We also need a serious rim protector to play this style of defense.
