I love it when people talk about their sports teams in the terms of we - Really?
And what field position or management position do these folks have on the team
I know that I do so on rare occasions but try not to do so - My father would always say - what position do you play?
Trivial, I know.

After the last decade, I don't believe UCONN football is too good for anybody. Followers of the program (I am one, with season tickets) tend to over rate the importance / viability of the program. We have become an outlier. An independent with no bowl affiliation. Our big win was holding on to beat Yale. With ongoing conference realignment, maybe scheduling becomes more difficult. Maybe building a winning program in a "lesser" conference is our best option.

Man this board has gone overboard.

The real question is why is UMass not being mentioned- is it because they are going to the MAC for all sports?

UConn's brand power is greater than every other current and speculated CUSA school combined. While our recent success on the football field is not, this move would severely dampen the perception of UConn athletics overall.
Again, we canceled our entire football season for literally 0 reason. What perception is UConn trying to uphold here? The entire country laughed at us

It may well be that UMass didn't pick up the phone. That, or CUSA has yet to call them.

All of these reports make it seem like this one-off phone conversation happened very recently - perhaps yesterday - and CUSA immediately ran to a reporter. I really would not read a lot into any of the events that did or did not reportedly happen here. This is a nothingburger that CUSA is trying to exaggerate.

Recruiting will suffer. Attendance will suffer, which given the last few years would be remarkable.

if they want to start down the path of eliminating football, and making Rentschler field a white elephant, then by all means do this.

Somebody reached out. ADDave took the call. He said, hmm, we’ll get back to you. That’s what this amounted to.

We have some of these teams on future schedules, so we can’t just ignore them. Even if we didn’t, it is in our interest to have multiple programs available for scheduling purposes. It might in fact be useful to have some form of scheduling alliance with some of them, especially if they have only 6-7 conference games. Makes our scheduling easier and makes there’s easier too.
Other than a few contracted games with FIU, UConn has absolutely zero games scheduled with any other school currently committed to stay in the unstable CUSA. Politely accepting a call from the CUSA conference makes sense to avoid ruffling feathers with current CUSA schools. As much as future UConn schedules are filling up, who knows what happens due to multiple conference realignments. Favorable relations with current CUSA members may help plug future UConn schedule holes.

Nothing wrong with listening to what they have to say. They do have a bag of exit fee money to offer.

If it were a shorter conference schedule, say 7 conference games, we would still have 5 games to schedule P5 schools.

First Connecticut did everything they could to lose the Whalers and got played by Robert Kraft ( Patriots ) into thinking that they would relocate to Hartford so he could get a better deal from Massachusetts and now while Cincinnati’s football team is going to the Big 12 UConn’ s football team is going to join the conference ( conference USA) that just lost 6 members to our old conference the AAC… See a pattern here… I do . While I still brag about being from Connecticut and UConn ( glad I’m not originally from my current state of Florida , red necks and all) Connecticut has always been small time when it’s comes to sports and casinos ( Steve Winn) and attractions that would make money for the state and give people things to do. And please don’t take credit for the 2 HOF UConn basketball coaches, ( Kevin Ollie, and the last 3 football coaches) Everyone gets lucky once in a while and catches lightning in a bottle). I feel for you guys , I really do. Just saying
This reads like a hostage video with a Syracuse fan pointing a gun at your head.
