Cobb Suspended

Maybe Kevin needs to look in the mirror and see why he keeps getting into it with players in the locker room

Uh-huh. And Cobb was the only guy out there freelancing it. And, he is also the guy who was suspended multiple times at South Carolina! This is like Curtis Kelly without the talent. Suspended under Calhoun, suspended under Frank Martin. It's actually Kelly in reverse, when you think about it.

I think the reasons he has lost players has nothing to do directly with the off court issues some may be thinking of. Up until recently , at least, I don’t believe the players were aware. However, those rumors may poison recruiting in certain situations. Not so much with the player but with the single parent Mom when negative recruiting is used.
in regards to what you're talking about, I think it can definitely effect players just because it shows that his whole act is a facade. once the mask is off it becomes a lot easier to see through BS.

maybe Cobb deserved it. I don't know. But it wouldn't be the first time Ollie and a player got into a confrontation that completely soured the relationship.

The staff knew that Cobb had a history of issues off the court. Thats probably a big reason a lot of other schools stood clear of him. At the time, many of us thought this was a good signing. We dont have any facts yet, but this doesnt look like it will end well.

By the way, when was the last time there was good news from UConn athletics outside of the womens basketball program?

How about baseball and women’s field hockey.

all i've heard is that his playing favorites has hurt us before. he tries to create competition but instead picks winners and losers seemingly at random

Gee, I wonder where he picked that up from?

Cobb on the court is all you needed to see. If anything, Ollie was too nice to him.

It's also not the first time we've seen players pop off at UConn, and not only to Ollie. It happened to JC as well.

explain losing 4 guys this past offseason

Lets chew the fat. Get to the bottom of all this.

Do you want to meet for a beer? We can invite 0904, upstater, Walker11, Big Red, Mau, Mckracken, Stairmaster, Fishy/ Chief and Fluedslipcon. You name um we invite um! On Me!!!!!!!

We can hash all this out off the record!

Deal or No Deal?

you've become one of the biggest apologists on the board. you don't carry much weight here.

LOL--now I've heard it all. People bragging about how much weight they carry. ON THE BONEYARD! Talk about delusions of grandeur! I wish I was you, with your top secret inside information and sources... of college sports. Which you can share on a message board!

You have cred.

Calhoun loved his Father Flanagan role.

Doesn’t always work. A great story on Caron Butler ... begat Nate Miles.
Nate Miles was a really nice kid from the worst kind of background you could imagine (actually you couldn’t imagine it). If you want to see exhibit A on the educational and Child Welfare systems failing kids, see Nate Miles. That he gets portrayed as some sort of bad egg that was beyond help is ignorant. You can suggest that maybe he didn’t belong in college, but don’t confuse the end result with what type of kid he was or how Hathaway threw him under the bus

yeah you're up there too.

sad for Cobb. He had some offensive skills but never got it together on defense. I remember the Stony Brook big man score 3 straight time on him and DO cme to the rescue

You admitted to me that u have no inside info. U sound like a 28 y/o lonely man with a laptop n no life.
u pretend to work for a university nd can't write a coherent sentence

You know what would be fun? A locked room with Hathaway, Emmert and all the angry boneyarders. It would get forking medieval in there!

Am I missing something?

Did Cobb kill someone?

Or was he just suspended for one of those vague team rules kinda things?

He mighta kicked over a waste paper basket at halftime or something.

Dude I work my arse off. If u ever type on a mex board via IPHONE u would know what I mean. I actually feel sorry for u in some way. How a 28 y/o man/boy spend the whole weekend day/night in front of a desktop typing BS is just pathological

Well he never got it going on offense either. He just did whatever he wanted out there. I enjoyed it at first but the switch never turned on for him unfortunately.

How does it feel to be a fan of the man killing UConn basketball instead of an actual UConn fan?

It probably feels OK to be a fan of a guy who is universally respected as a leader, mentor, and champion inside and outside of basketball. The idea that the reputation he accumulated through two+ decades in high level basketball has all been a fraud is pretty ridiculous. I'd wager that he's likely developed some emotional problems that have compromised his ability to run the program and compelled him to act out-of-character. I'm not sure there are many people at this point who don't see the problems and it's obvious that he won't be the coach here if things continue that way.

But just remember, this isn't just a head coach who won a title and played 12 years in the NBA, he's also a guy who played for four years here under Calhoun and got his degree. The active rooting against him and need to accelerate his demise from people on this board is sad and this is a terrible take if you were being serious.
