Remember when JC took two players who stole laptops but suspended one for a different length than the other because one could help us on the floor immediately and one couldn't?

You are the loudest here about wanting to go back to the JC way of not giving one whit about Academics and that perfect APR scores are part of what is a factor in putting us in a competitive hole. You answer your own question in the next line, negating your complaint that there was a reason for the laptop guys to be here in the first place but not this player. It's certainly not as if Cobb was anyone's first choice for an inside big. Ollie and the staff found a guy who had difficulties his freshman year at a P5 school, and went JUCO where he didn't learn any basketball discipline, and who was 6'9" and 270 lb, and they hoped they could straighten things out. They still might if they can get through to him. This was a necessary, but not desirable signing. To insinuate that the laptop guys had more talent, so that makes it different is wrong. Both situations revealed character problems.

It isn't an insinuation it's a fact, they had more talent. Both had character problems... 1 group was good at basketball, cobb isn't good at basketball. That is the difference.

Kid does something to cause him to get suspended which is fine. But to compare this to laptop gate is insane. The difference between that team & this team...they were good at basketball. That doesn't excuse the behavior but at least there was a reason for these players to be here in the first place. What reason is there for Cobb to ever wear a UConn jersey? Well, we had a mass exodus of players last year so we needed a warm body, however it was well known Cobb had a troubled past.

Laptopgate was the absolute worst thing that ever happened to this program. Nothing compares. Not Nate Miles, not Doug Wrenn or any other problem.
Williams and Price should have been expelled but as you said they were good players.

Bashing KO on the X's and O's is one thing...but on his personality I think is taking it too far...publicly dude has earned respect on many levels...bust his ass his whole playing career to maintain a job and came back to his alma mater to mentor and teach the young... that being said everyone doesn't get along with everybody they meet that's just being human and we all know every kid is not gonna like the coach it happens...I like a lot of us am very disappointed in the play of the team the last few seasons but refuse to trash KO for anything off the court

It's absolutely relevant, when your talents out weigh your problems you get things in life. We shouldn't have been in a situation to have to take a risk on the Cobbs of the world is what I'm getting at. That isn't similar to laptop gate players because we picked them up as freshmen and they were great basketball players.

I loved watching Marcus Williams, he might be my co-favorite player besides Caron – but that laptop nonsense really tainted my feelings towards him and it was the beginning of the program starting to go off-the-rails in regard to bad public perception stuff going on.

In fairness, all I said was “ the reason given”, I did not comment if I believed it. Right on about the overfocus on APRs. Although, I believe Dave is trying to strike a better balance over time.

Yeah Im sure Calhoun didnt agree with getting his point guard back on the cusp of making a title run with a loaded team that had no other point guard.

If Calhoun wanted him suspended for the same amount of time he simply couldve left him on the bench or in street clothes.
