According to the NCAA Record Book, a coach that moves to another NCAA division level program must remain for 5 consecutive seasons, at which point all their cumulative records move with them to their current Division. For example, Joe Foley, the coach of AR-Little Rock, coached for 20 years at a Div II program before coming to Div I UALR in the mid-2000's. A significant portion of his current 728 wins occurred at the Div II level, but he is accorded all wins in his head coaching career as a Div I coach since he has been at Div I for over 9 years. Barbara Stevens remains officially listed as a Div II coach - she tops the all-time list for Division II, but she falls to 5-6th all-time for all division levels.

well now this make sense, but still 5 years playing D-1 then getting 35+ years playing D-2 wouldn't be fair to all the other coaches in D-1. I realize this a very odd rare situation.

BY (myself included) have (collective noun plural verb is probably correct) always appreciated Tara's altruism during the 1995-96 season. Only if we could get her to acknowledge doing a job on Rebecca Lobo simultaneously.
I too do not like the practice of getting credit for a win that one did not coach. If yelling would fix it, I would very gladly do it as well.

I wonder if you knew that CD coached a few games and Geno has been credited with the victories. Why don't you let charity begin at home.

? The Husky men were banned from post-season play because of text messages sent to a guy that never played a single game at UConn. And the four time national championship winning UConn men are considered blue bloods.

That's not correct. The men were banned from the NCAAs in 2013 for a deficient APR rating. There were other penalties, including a three game suspension in 2012 for Jim Calhoun, due to the Nate Miles' recruiting violations. Ironically, the recruiting rules violated have since been repealed by the NCAA.

I am repeating my post regarding why Geno may move up the ranks of winning coaches on Wikipedia sooner than later.

I have posted a few times about this wikipedia page List of college women's basketball coaches with 600 wins
The page is maintained mostly by Oakraven81 who updates the list about once a week.
He/She has now been joined by 67.180.248.170 - a San Francisco IP address.
Mr/Ms IP address edits the list whenever Geno wins a game.
He/She correctly enters Geno's number and does not touch rest of the list.
In this way he is expediting Geno's march to a higher ranking on Wikipedia.
You can verify this by checking the History tab.
It may not matter given Rutgers' performance this season. But you have been warned.

But if, as you say, Oakraven81 updates the list "about once a week" (and does so in accurate and complete fashion) isn't "Mr/Mrs IP address" only skewing the list momentarily ? And if that's the case I don't think we really need to be "warned" , especially twice. Rest assured that the half-dozen or so folks at Volnation,who can accurately count, will keep the tally honest.

Hard to say. It seemed like the game had passed her by a bit, but that was likely due to early onset symptoms.

In the end it really doesn't matter. She'll be remembered as one of the all time greats, deservedly so.

Huge win by Rutgers at home over Michigan State. Rutgers is showing improvement, now 3-3 in conference (and I notice you've moved back your projected "Geno ties CVS" date accordingly).

I am probably missing something here, but on face value I find the years coaching very interesting. I am sure there will be those that can shoot holes in it but here goes. CV should not even be in this discussion based on her number of years coaching. In fact anyone with more than 40 years should not be in this conversation. The cut off maybe should be 38 years, that is where Pat set the bar. When Geno reaches his 46th year of coaching (14 years from now) he will have far surpassed everyone. 14 seasons at 20 wins per season ( error on the LOWwww side) plus 971 equals 1251. Even if he only does 6 more years( G.. forbid) he will pass Pat. Also out of the other 6 how many years does each have left to coach compared to Geno? Of course that is barring any major problems. So as the post is all about it is not IF but just a matter of WHEN !!!!!! Sorry just slightly off topic..
