A lot of changes to rebuild this program. Looking forward to seeing how they build off of what they accomplished last year.

Yes. It will be interesting to see how South Carolina rebuilds.

People have been wondering when Stringer would retire. What a history of coaching. It's unfortunate that COVID impacted her ability to finish her career on the court.

This late announcement have put Rutgers in a
Tough spot as this is a bit late to try and get someone that would be considered very good.

I am Curious as to why the delay. I suspect that there were a lot of long conversations from the Athletic Department to CVS that is was time and needed quite a bit of convincing. Not sure what to think of how big a rebuild it will be or if the RU job is considered a “plum” job or not. CVS was getting Paid a lot but does that correlate to the new coach.

Im in shock. Not sure why they couldn't have waited a few days and do this back in Winston-Salem. Thats gonna be a lonnnnnng drive home.

An she was an alum.. And arguably the second besr player in school history

Very strange timing. Now any players who wish to transfer out/in are going to have to file waiver requests to be eligible this coming season since the May 1 deadline has passed.

Who saw this coming? And why now????

Well, if you're going to let her go, right after the regular season would've been the time to do so, in order to attract best possible candidates. So, that isn't gonna happen.Plus, there's always a churn in personnel and Wake is once again late to the party of folks that have left other schools. However, that doesn't mean players won't leave the Deacons given Hoover's departure. The person I'm thinking of is Jewell Spear, the sharp shooting who come fit right in with a team that needs a (very) good outside stroke.

Oh, btw, note Hoover saying "without cause." Think that might be revisited in another court?

Stay tuned.

You'd think they'd get it given that the coach has been relieved....

Transfers out, yes; but, still have to go through the hassle of filing waiver requests.

Transfers in? Not as likely to have waivers approved. It's as if Wake just hurt their program overall by not doing this in early April.

I found that very odd that the official WF site published that comment. They certainly weren't obligated to do so.

To me, the comment implies there was no wrongdoing on her part (other than not winning enough), and she will be paid the entire amount her contract stipulates for being terminated without cause. Not sure there's any need for a court/judgement.

Is this the same Currie who lasted less than a year as AD at Tennessee, the same tone deaf gent who hired Greg Schiano (of Sandusky Penn State fame)?

Hmmmm… Wikipedia thinks it's the dude who was run out of Knoxville on a rail by those oh-so-virtuous Tenn. fans.

“Currie took over as athletic director on February 28, 2017.Currie was dismissed on December 1, 2017 after 8 months on the job due to a failed coaching search that included the decision to agree to terms with Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano. The Schiano recruitment led to a large protest by fans in part due to Schiano's alleged failure to report the sexual assault of children by former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.“

I feel like in a case like this players should be able to get a waiver if they the school got rid of a coach this late in the year. Seems like terrible management by the school to do it now, it puts everyone in a bind.
