When UConn gets into a P5 they can be a little more selective. OK, a lot more. Until then, lock up as many P5s as you can get.

Florida did it year after yer. Who knows, it may have been political. But the Florida series was 1:1 yearly for at least a decade.

The Boise empire was built by getting flunkies who couldn't get admitted into big time schools and WINNING the big time games they scheduled. Scheduling big time opponents and getting slaughtered does nothing for us. And, as much as we think it's a big deal......nobody outside of NE will care for a game against BC. And beating them.....isn't going to garner much traction in the world of CR. In fact, it won't mean a damn thing. The damage to our perception is simply not worth scheduling this game.

You can't win the big time games if you don't schedule the big time games.

I was talking generically - not specific to the BC game (though I would like to see a UConn/BC series again in the future).

Before you rebuild national perception, you rebuild local. I don't care if the SEC could give a crap about a BC-UConn game. They're 90 miles away and the closest FBS and P5. Not playing them even on "their terms" makes UConn look like delusional p u s s i e s. I hate them, their preppie arrogance, DeFillippo's war on UConn, and everything else about The Heights. But play the damn game on an annual basis. Good programs are built on good rivalries

there is a difference between thinking like a loser, and knowing what you have to do to move up. If we want to think like a 'winner' we are going to be stuck in the AAC for a long time to come

I don't have the link but didn't Cincinnati just ink a one-off, paycheck away game? That didn't seem to stop them from doing this series...

BC is not a big time team. It would be great to play them, but only on equal terms, they are not worth bending over for. The precedent that would set would be dangerous. I'd rather see one for one's with BYU or Boise both of which are better football brands than BC.

Should we bend over and do a 3-1 for Syracuse and Rutgers too?

umm I hate to bring this up but the reason UC looks weak is, because it is. We are an orphan on a doorstep, the big loser in CR, the last chicken wing on the plate that everyone is afraid to eat. We are the land of misfit toys at this point. As far as I see it, especially after this year, I would be glad that any P5 team would play us, on any terms

You guys are putting BC up there with Notre Dame and Michigan. It is absolute madness. Glad you guys aren't running anything for the school.

Haven't people on this board also complained that we haven't scheduled a single P5 game since we were left in the Land of Misfit Toys? As if signing a series with Indiana or Wake Forest would be a better game than BYU or Boise. BC, like it or not, is a P5 team. For five years down the road are we really supposed to try and distinguish between which P5 team we think is going to be really good then as opposed to the ones that might be marginally good or great? What crystal ball are you using?

Tennessee and Baylor are great examples of this. Tennessee was a blue blood of college football for years and years and (except in their own eyes) they just aren't anymore. Baylor on the other hand has gone from perennial doormat to being a Top 25 program for a few years in a row. Doesn't make them a blue blood by any stretch but if we were playing them this year it would look like a very high quality game on our schedule (and heaven forbid what that score would look like).

I don't think we have the luxury or the foresight to distinguish much between P5 teams.

I would tell BC that we will agree to play them once. In return, if they improve their program we will return the favor and play them in MA.

I hate to break it to you, but the most important game in Boise's history was the Bowl game against Oklahoma. they played Oregon St at home in Boise in the 2nd game of a home-home with the Beavers that season. They took an occassional money game or a 1-off before that but it was harldy a regular thing for them.

More regular than being portrayed. They've played 'neutral' games at FedEx outside DC (Virginia Tech) and Atlanta (Georgia).

When in your entire lifetime has BC been a powerhouse? Let me explain this more succinctly: in all its years in the BE, BC never once managed to finish higher than 3rd place.

Today I learned that BC may be one of the top teams in America in a few years.
 
And today I learned that some people's hatred of BC has clouded their vision of what would be an obvious move to help put UConn's program back on its feet. . . . by the way Addazio is candidate for coach of the year now. I wish nothing but bad things for BC but talking smack about a program that clearly made strides this year compared to the crapshow at the Rent is 100 percent delusional.

No one is "giving away" anything. It's not like we'd be paying BC for the privilege. This would HELP put UConn back on its feet. A place it will have a tough time getting if it acts it can unilaterally pick and choose its way to a path to get into a better conference.
