Can't figure this team out.

Bubble team
They're gonna have to really screw up over the last six games and BET to find themselves on the bubble. There are 10-12 teams between UConn and having to sweat it out on Selection Sunday. Our concern should be getting off the 8-9 lines.

I saw no progress on the continuing problems of inbounding under pressure.

No adjustments, none at all. Same ol throw it in the corner to get trapped. And with 9.1 seconds left when you catch the ball tell me why you need to even try to split a double team you don’t need to get it over half court? Hold on pivot and make them foul you. He got fouled yes he did but this game shouldn’t even be in OT if you can inbound the ball in regulation. Adjust please instead of showing your ring fingers to other fans!!!

We were on our way to closing in potentially on the 5 or 6 if they got the job done. But instead we now once again realize we are lucky to win against Nova, PC and SH never mind StJ or Marquette. I think the bubble is where we are closest.

PUHLEASE
Texas is 5-8 in conference and just beat #15 Kentucky yesterday. I could go on and there are plenty of unranked teams beating top ranked ones.
Any home game in the BE is a crapshoot these days especially when refs swallow their whistles. UConn is not getting blown out, they have a ton of games that could have gone either way but didn’t.

It’s a team w a hurt pg, an elite role player who is pressing trying to be someone he is not, a great shooter who does nothing else, two sophomores who never developed, a freshmen class we missed on, a transfer we missed on, a transfer who needs to play more, and a top 10 freshman in the country. That adds up to mediocrity. We really have no bench and depth just at the center spot, and even there both are average.
Sounds like recruiting has failed, needs a lot more attention and possibly totally revamped going forward.

Karaban inbounding is like watching Daniel Jones try and find an open receiver on the Giants when he was there. We need a new inbounder.
A new inbounder would help but how about a new and fool proof inbounding setup? It's not rocket science. That's on the coaching. Plus there were no successful adjustments. The same old inbounding procedure time and again. Not too hard to defeat. It's almost comical to see how something so elementary can be totally screwed up and at the supposedly elite Div I level no less. Embarrassing.

He was still talking about it two weeks ago.
The "3-peat" stuff in retrospect sounds like it was more for recruiting purposes than to play up to fandom. Anyway, like most things the results will speak for themselves. Good luck Dan Hurley with the recruiting.

The whole NIL recruiting process is a crapshoot. You sign good players who may or may not fit into a system then fold in high school recruits. The opportunity to develop talent is pretty much over. Hurley and his staff did a fantastic job for two years and all the pieces fit perfectly. IU and Kansas spent piles of money this year and whiffed. Not sure how much St John's spent....probably not nearly as much.

The new system is like getting a job. Employers hire people with experience- Companies don't want to train and invest- they expect instant results.

Good news….. last I checked, recruiting seems to be back on track.

I think it's getting to the point where it's too late to really significantly (consistently) turn things around. Let's see what they do vs Nova, otherwise I think I might check out if that game is a bust.

Seems like the type of team that might play above their heads in round 1 only to lay an egg in the round of 32
Ye of little Faith! You might "Check out"?

Sweet 16 would be an accomplishment this year. Just can't make up for losing multiple NBA players, and only one of our sophomore class has arrived.

Mahaney was a miss, and it's compounded by the lack of other viable ball handlers.

It was an over reaction, but it was a brutal loss.

Everyone is apoplectic because they really care about being an 8 seed v a 9 seed

Now compare Texas and Hall NET

Teams get beat. Just watch 15 and 14 seeds beat 2’s and 3’s every year. I’m just not sold on these number rankings as a predictor of every game even against lower win teams like SHU. They were due.

Is this the epitome of a spoiled fan?
Thank you for your interest in UConn Basketball.

How interesting you missed my follow up....sometimes people over react, what a shock. At least I own up to it.

Didn't know a strangers admitted over reaction could be so triggering to some.

Thank YOU for you're interest in UConn basketball, lol.

I actually think this team has been pretty easy to figure out this year. 2022-23 was tough to figure out with the hot start and the horrendous January. This team has the look of a 6-9 seed pretty much the whole year. Everyone got excited about the Creighton win, that was just McNeeley single handedly beat them in a crazy game. The rest of the team played like crap.

They're consistently bad defensively, consistently unable to beat teams off the dribble. They'll make the tournament, and the tourney is really hard to predict, you never know what could happen. Will be very tough making it past the first weekend if they are an 8 seed. Hoping for a run at the end here to get a 7 or possibly a 6 seed.

As has been said many times here, Alex may have bad shooting nights, but he does a lot of little things that win games. I don't think he played like crap at all. Just missed his threes. In the right place at right time for putbacks, handled Kalk when our 5s were crap. Threw some dimes. Pretty good game in hindsight.

That's fair enough, maybe crappy is a little strong for that game for him particularly. It was still a horrific team performance outside of McNeeley.

The starting PG has a knee injury, the high ranked freshman PG hasn’t been healthy all season, and the other kid hasn’t adjusted to the game speed, physicality of the Big East. That’s three PG’s.
Neither Hass nor Mahaney are natural PGs. Only Nowell is and you correctly point out that he has not had a healthy seaaon.

He is game ready and available according to Hurley who didn’t use him and went with no point guard. What does that say?

Not sure he would do any worse than Maheney has performed.

It's a team that can play up to anybody it faces (Creighton, Marquette), hold its ground against its peers (Gonzaga, Texas, Baylor), but also play down to anybody it faces (Colorado, Dayton, Seton Hall)

The good news: Get into the tournament and anything can happen :)
The bad news: Get into the tournament and anything can happen :(

1. AK had a breakout game BUT.
2. HD played his heart out.
3. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers.
4. Lost to the cellar dwellar
5. Beat Marquette and Creighton at their place.
6. WTF is going on!

1) We’re not that good. We went from having multiple NBA players to one.
2) We need someone to freak to win big games.
3) We play one point guard and he’s actually a combo guard who is holding down the fort out of necessity.
4) Our defense is the worst it has even been here. We have one competent defender and he has been run ragged. (See #3)
5) Poorly constructed roster. We have spot up shooters up and down the lineup.
6) We have like five really good sixth men. Three of them start.
