Can't figure this team out.

They gave it away with some of same problems they had against St. John's, except against a team they should have beaten easily. That's the kind of loss that makes a person's stomach hurt. You could see it coming in OT, too. Just no ability to handle basic fundamentals when the other team presses on defense.

Love McNeeley but people should call a spade a spade, he played and shot pretty damn bad. 6 turnovers. Played so great last game but was a real hurt today.
Kid is a freshman and if the team’s success comes down to that, it’s going to be a rocky ride.

When you have a 7 point lead with 36 seconds to go, and the game goes to OT, and then regain a decent lead in OT with seconds remaining and then lose the game…….That’s on the coaching staff.
It's always on the staff, win or lose. They recruit the players. They coach them and call the game. I think the staffs biggest blunder this year was the roster. Too slow. Not athletic. Not strong. Not particularly basketball savvy.

We continue to beat ourselves with TOs. That will be our Achilles heel for the rest of the season. If we take care of the ball, we win.

Tarris and Stewart have to play more confidently and consistently for us to even have a chance to make a deep tournament run. We need them to combine for 20 & 10 every night (unless Liam wants to regularly turn into Larry Bird again).

Sorry, I've given up on Mahaney and Ross is too one-dimensional to have any tangible impact at this point in the season.

Boneheaded fouls by our bigs are our 2nd Achilles heel. I'm afraid if this hasn't been corrected by this point in the season, it never will be.

We've been spoiled the last two seasons. We're lucky if we get to the Sweet 16 IMO.

It’s relatively easy to beat this team if you have athletes and can press.

It’s puzzling that game after game the following happens:

-Fail to inbound against the press
-Way late in shot clock scramble for a poor shot

For all the plaudits the staff got for drawing up inbounds plays under an opponents hoop on the offensive end, they should get hammered foe the inability to inbound under our hoop after an opponents made hoop the opponent sets up a press.

Any season is a process, but boy this is a horrible loss.

We’re just not that good. Borderline top 25. Our best win of the season is at a borderline top 20 Marquette. At this point not hoping for anything more than a 7 seed and probable loss to a 2 seed in the second round.

It'd take a ridiculously lucky draw for this team to get past the first weekend.

I have more confidence in them against a 2 seed than a 10 seed. For whatever reason, this team horribly plays to their competition. Great when we beat Marquette, Creighton, and Gonzaga, not so much otherwise. I would almost rather be a 10 or 11 seed this year than a 5, 6 or 7.

I don’t know if anyone noticed but some of the top ranked teams have lost to cellar dwellers in their conference this year. It’s just not us though we have done it more.

Are any of those cellar dwellers worse than Seton Hall?

Which is it? Is the coaching staff actually doing a good job because we are in position to make the tournament despite having a bad roster OR is the staff doing a bad job because we have a good roster and not putting it all together.

The starting PG has a knee injury, the high ranked freshman PG hasn’t been healthy all season, and the other kid hasn’t adjusted to the game speed, physicality of the Big East. That’s three PG’s.

Low basketball IQ coupled with the fact that we just don’t have the individual talent like we did the last two years. I’m not trying to be harsh. I certainly couldn’t do it, but it is what it is.

We've beaten Gonzaga, and Marquette/Creighton at home. IMO, we're not that bad.
We aren't that bad. At all. We just don't really excel at anything, and have way too many glaring weaknesses that we are easy to coach against.

That being said we have enough talent to beat anyone, but we lack the BBIQ so we can lose to anyone as well.

In years past we had the defense to stabilize/ground us in every game. It was a big part of our identity. What is our identity this year? We just don't have that collective character trait that we are able to fall back on when bad things start to happen in-game.

Yes, we're a horrible defensive team, but we're typically an excellent offensive team. I still believe we aren't going far in the tournament because defense does ultimately win championships, but our offense and a better whistle in the tournament should carry us a game or 2.

It'll be nice once we get Reibe in the building. He should provide much of what Clingan did and hold down the paint defensively.

We can't inbounds against a press because we have slow wings and a PG with 1 knee. The game was in hand despite a horrific shooting night.
Come on man. We can't inbound it because our players are too slow? Watch the Ivies and other midmajors play against top teams. They can execute an inbounds.

They need to start Reed, with him down low, they’re a much better team, and at the opening tip it would sort of set the tone for the game.

I think it's getting to the point where it's too late to really significantly (consistently) turn things around. Let's see what they do vs Nova, otherwise I think I might check out if that game is a bust.
Oh no all … Travelman6 “might check out”. As if losing to SH wasn’t bad enough, now we might lose a stalwart like Travelman6.

Good riddance to you and your weaksauce TM6.

It’s a team w a hurt pg, an elite role player who is pressing trying to be someone he is not, a great shooter who does nothing else, two sophomores who never developed, a freshmen class we missed on, a transfer we missed on, a transfer who needs to play more, and a top 10 freshman in the country. That adds up to mediocrity. We really have no bench and depth just at the center spot, and even there both are average.
