Why would they rush back to school to be in a category 4-5 hurricane?

I didn't say they should, but that was the original plan which the USF President, rightly imo, nixed.

They don't want to play distrasted .

You are not allowed to bring up the elephant in the room. It's not PC.

I hope it can be rescheduled. Where there is a will there is a way. It will involve shuffling other games.

they'll be on campus watching film on Illinois

The tweet spelled it out. They were afraid their charter would be grounded in CT. I'm not buying the story about consulting with "agencies" who advised them not to leave for safety reasons. That was the absolute safest course of action. You didn't want to get stuck here just be honest about it.

Reshuffling isn't happening. We'll have to deal with it.

Odd how UCF and Memphis put 2+2 together and are playing on Friday IN FRIGGING FLORIDA.

This storm came out of the blue so there was no way that simple solution could have been used. Rentschler couldn't get the policemen and firemen in place or something.

Oh both of those teams have something to gain and the AAC has nothing to gain from UConn winning.

But let's talk some more P6! Complete Mickey Mouse organization. The headquarters should be in Orlando.

I think this game could have been played as scheduled but USF didn't really want to do it and a cat 5 hurricane is a pretty serious matter, no? What the league ought to do is play this on 10/21 when both teams have a conference game with a western division foe. They are st Tulane and we have Tulsa. And there really should be a plan to make UConn whole by giving us an extra home league game next year, most likely USF. There ought to be some consequences for cancelling this game scheduled far far far from the hurricane. They shouldn't be overly severe but they should be fair. It would have been different if USF couldn't get here but they would have left well ahead of the hurricane and could have stayed until it was safe to return. So while this is sort of bogus, I am told that there was also pressure from the Governors office to stay home. Their EMS folks didn't want the prospects of a plane load of football players stuck in no mans land if the timing was off. Optics would have been awful.

What if we play down there on Friday night in exchange for home games the next 2 years? After the Friday game we get the hell out of dodge and into the beautiful fall weather. They can stay where they want to be in the middle of a Cat 5.

There is the real world and then there is the self righteous Boneyard.

It pains me to be on the same side of an argument as @Chief00 and @freescooter but here I am. It's clear as day what went into this decision. It wasn't so that players can be with their families. If I see that one more time I might poke my eyes out with a stick so I can never read this board again.

.-.
This is as simple as USF doesn't want to play back to back road games with a huge distraction and travel headaches.

If you believe anything else God bless ya. It's that simple.

Especially since they have been straight garbage. If you think a Bulls player is allowed to even go out in the rain you are lawst.

I had bought 4 chairbacks. Wonder if the school will be willing to offer a swap to another game.

Florida Atlantic A.D. Pat Chun tells me FAU is still scheduled to fly to Wisconsin on Friday afternoon. Coaches' families will be on the plane, along with the entire travel squad. FAU was able to get a bigger charter plane than normal. Players not traveling with the team have been dismissed to be with their families. Florida Atlantic anticipates remaining in Wisconsin until it is safe to return home.

Yeah when I first heard this yesterday I was wondering why not Friday. Uconn said it could get done but USF could not arrange travel??? That sounds like BS. I don't believe that.
If USF couldn't arrange travel to get here a little earlier tomorrow then they should be relegated to FCS. This is shady and the AAC is complacent, at best. Complicit at worst.

If FAU can do that, a team from a "power conference" should be able to do such a thing, right?

FAU wants their money.

Wait, I thought the 15 minute half time was going to make this all go away?!

What an disgrace.

USF doesn't want to travel and get stuck in CT for competitive purposes only.

This idea that a football program is going to have their 18-22 year players head out into the heart of the storm instead of staying in the dorms, would be sheer negligence.

This sucks for UConn. Down to 5 home games.

What else is new? We get effed at every turn.

P.S. spare me the sanctimonious B.S. about some things are bigger than football. Of course they are. But this decision was about football only and this is a football board.

Well, that and Kiffin's ego thinks he will win and parlay it into a new job.

Kiffin heard that the co-eds were good in Wisconsin. He would fly directly into the hurricane if it meant a good night out at the bar with some college girls. Joey Freshwater

The most frustrating thing about this is that not only is UConn getting screwed, but they have essentially no recourse against it because the optics of the situation make any retaliation political suicide.

As Whaler points out, neither USF nor the conference has anything to gain from this game. If this is "bigger than football" then forfeiting the game is a small consolation. It's not bigger than football and that's exactly why the game won't be played.

We are not allowed to do this because there is a Cat 4 Hurricane coming to S Florida sometime early Sunday!
