Hate to see kids get hurt. I want all these teams at full strength. Not only for when we beat them, but so the BE can smack teams in the NCAA.
Paige had a tibial plateau fracture and meniscus tear not a hyperextension?Hopkins's injury reminded me of Paige Buecker's first knee injury. Weird steps followed by an over-the-front hyperextension. She was out what 6-8 weeks? Significantly better than an ACL tear
I believe her injury was the result of that hyperextension. So much pressure pinching on the cartilage and front of the tibial plateau. It is physics essentially.Paige had a tibial plateau fracture and meniscus tear not a hyperextension?
That's my sentiment as well. Plus, I hate to see any athlete go through that when they work so hard, but even more for college athletes since they don't get paid like the pros in most cases depending on their NIL deal. Hopkins is a legitimate pro prospect and 1st team all Big East player. The news about his injury bummed me out just like it did with Clingan and Paige Bueckers (spelling).Hate to see kids get hurt. I want all these teams at full strength. Not only for when we beat them, but so the BE can smack teams in the NCAA.
cross the fingers and toes and hope it's minor knee sprain or minor hyperextension of his knee and he is out for only 2 weeks. I hate seeing injuries like this to any player but especially ones of Hopkins' caliber who is a bonafide 1st team all Big East player.I was there and I'd be very happy but very surprised if it isn't serious.
It's already been released, torn ACLcross the fingers and toes and hope it's minor knee sprain or minor hyperextension of his knee and he is out for only 2 weeks. I hate seeing injuries like this to any player but especially ones of Hopkins' caliber who is a bonafide 1st team all Big East player.
Certain injuries have increased recently because players are larger and more explosive than in the past. This really stinks for the kid, for Providence, and for the Big East. Providence was going to make some noise this season, IMO and I'm rooting for Kim English.
I probably can't find any numbers on this and it might just be in my head but it seems like more basketball players are getting major injuries in recent years than I remember in the past.
Welp I was wrong. ACL Tear
Yeah, I missed some of the posts above. Damn, I feel sick for the kid and the Providence team. It's already been released, torn ACL
UConn is the most prestigious program in the conference, with that comes some jealousy. I don't think many fans celebrate season ending injuries though. This thread is proof that we are BE fans. I'm very happy we're all on the same page. I feel like PC fans would be celebrating this if it happened to Clingan, but maybe I overestimate their scumbaggery.
When AJ blew out his knee against USD in the 2008 tournament I was a member of a board that was designed for all (then) BE schools. The PC fans (there were a lot of them) were split 50/50 between those who felt bad for AJ and those who were thrilled that we got knocked out of the tournament as a result of the injury. St John's fans on the other hand were in unison in their elation that we lost our PG and were eliminated. This thread is proof that we are BE fans. I'm very happy we're all on the same page. Especially because a lot of older big east fans can’t get out of their heads the pre Calhoun Huskies that they used to demolish. They‘re stuck in 1980-1985 and still can’t believe the new reality before their eyes. 5 NC baby. Whadayou got to show?UConn is the most prestigious program in the conference, with that comes some jealousy. I don't think many fans celebrate season ending injuries though.
You had me with your first 2 sentences and lost me with the last... Methinks you overestimate their scumbaggery...Real fans appreciate all the hard work that these kids put in and can separate the emotions of a heated rivalry from their empathy for a rival player who has had a serious injury.. AND for what it's worth, Bryce is a genuine good kid and the type of teammate you'd want on your team. This thread is proof that we are BE fans. I'm very happy we're all on the same page. I feel like PC fans would be celebrating this if it happened to Clingan, but maybe I overestimate their scumbaggery.
I share your sentiments
Shoveling dirt on the team is different than shoveling dirt on the player was my pointYou’ll never be able to convince me that at least 50% of Providence and Syracuse fans wouldn’t celebrate a season ending Clingan injury… you can sit there and say things like “real fans wouldn’t do something like this” but you’re just not living in the real world… a lot of them would… and they’re “real fans” by any other measure… AJ Price, Jerome Dyson, etc. lot of examples… I know one who was shoveling dirt on us following Clingan going down at Seton Hall going on about playing the Wednesday game in the Big East Tourney and loving it… just cause we don’t go that low doesn’t mean they don’t and wishing it wasn’t the case doesn’t make it so
That looks really bad. Would be a real bummer if he's out for the season. Providence and Hopkins are very good.
