IU's business school is actually the highest ranked out of reibe's suitors, but they don't run the basketball program. maybe they should bring their sports analytics people in there.
I think Reibe has a future as a professional basketball player before entering the business world.

Who said iu is doing it well. They had a lot of talent last year and did not dance. ballo reportedly got 2m. indiana may have the highest payroll. mercenaries is not winning formula. Hurley is managing the nil situation very well. I believe that will continue
To be fair, Woodson took over a steaming pile. He’s done some things well - has sent a few guys to the league, couple bigs and a guard. He has gotten to the tourney a couple times after IU went through a severe drought, and even won a game. Most of that success due to the talent he’s brought in. He seems to recruit fairly well.

A few things going against him - the NBA to college transition hasn’t worked, on any level across college hoops. An alumnus hire. He’s done a brutal job of grooming guards and his guard play has been generally abysmal, including 3 pt shooting. The offense can look really stagnant as he runs a pretty archaic system, focused on the front court with a lack of spacing. He’s generally underperformed given the talent (3 first rounders, and a great player like Reneau). He really hasn’t a “big win”, especially enough to satisfy the IU faithful. Wouldn’t call his seat super hot but after the pull and spend in this years portal, it will warm up quick with a sub par season and anything less than a tourney appearance, and likely a win or two. Especially in what appears to be a very down B10.

We're pretty much assured 5 open scholarships. Diarra and Johnson have no more eligibility, open scholarship, Karaban, and McNeeley are gone after this season.
I hear you on McNeeley. I try not to count on his leaving as a definite thing. I hear what people are saying about the draft next year, but he hasn't even played a game yet, a lot can happen in a season. I know he is a good player, I just don't know how good. Castle last year had an upwards trajectory that I could follow and watch as he played better, using more of his talent and athleticism. I am sure the same will hold true for McNeeley.

Joey Brackets doesn't think so. No very high end teams but a lot of good teams.

By the time the 2025 national champion is determined, it will have been a quarter-century since a Big Ten team won the NCAA title. It is one of those hard-to-believe streaks that's even crazier when you consider the conference has placed a best-in-the-nation 144 teams in the NCAA tournament since Michigan State hoisted the league's last trophy in 2000. Twenty-five years later, opportunity is once again knocking for the Big Ten. Not only are nine league members listed in our latest bracket, but every one of the First Four Out group -- Nebraska, Maryland, Wisconsin and USC -- are Big Ten members. Conference realignment and expansion are a part of that, for sure, but the Big Ten has never lacked for its quantity of contenders. Quality at times is another matter, and it could be again this year as the top Big Ten team on our seed list -- Purdue -- is only a No. 4. In the meantime, the Big East record of 11 tournament bids (2011) is very much in jeopardy. And the Big Ten is the most likely conference to break it, national championship or not.

Woodson’s seat is scorching. They run the most archaic offense in D1.

Joey way too early brackets in the house. I could see a situation where the Big10 has their usually crop of middle of the road teams, but severely lacking in the high end this year. They’ve lost stars in the portal (AJ Storr, Mich players) and not a ton coming back in other than this IU portal class. The Big10 in general isn’t pulling the high end HS talent these days as a lot of it is going to the SEC, Big12 and blue bloods. I don’t see Woodson having a lot of excuses this year not to make some noise.

Big 12 > Big 10 in terms of team for team talent. BE will continue to eat B10's lunch but not get as many teams into the dance, but it hasn't really mattered for 2 years either.

Big 10 basketball is a conference that is heavily stacked in physical play. By the time they get through beating the crap out of each other they have nothing left in the tank for the NCAAs. Yes, there have been exceptions - Purdue with Eddy the last few years and some of the MSU teams. Ohio State seems like the place to play if want to be a guard at the next level.
The New Big East is brutal, but I feel the talent is spread well position wise.
Big 10 is sometimes brutal to watch. IMO.

Agreed and we’ve been pretty fortunate that everyone is bought in and no one has felt slighted with playing time but we’re loading up on so much talent that I could see one transfer out after next season. Wont speculate who, but I could see us losing someone to the portal.

A view into the IU perception
Their 247 staff says it’s pretty much down to IU and UConn. Also says us landing Adams would help IU but not sure by how much.

It’s encouraging to hear from their side that there’s a chance Mullins can come here even with Adams on board.

Maybe Mahaney and Nowell could share the point, leaving the 2 to Ball and Adams, the 4 to Stewart and Abraham, and the 3 to Mullins and Ross--crowded, but I hope not impossible. I really don't know how Bundalo would fit--apparently he's not a 5. I don't think you could assure him Stewart would be gone.

The rotation will always work itself out. The cream rises to the top, and the rest will get better. Some of the guys listed may not even be here next year between the league or transfers.

if bundalo can play backup stretch C then we can take all three of adams/mullins/bundalo...but that's the only way it could work if stew is still here. there would only be 10mpg available as Stew's backup at PF and i'd want those going to Abraham.

Q&A with Braylon’s Dad.
That perception of our development is chefs kiss that’s a serious impression I’ve rarely seen about schools. Not sure if we are gonna win this one but damn I love that people are picking up what we are putting down and it’ll sort itself out once Hurley and co. Climb the learning curve of the new NIL dance before everyone else.

Interview with Mullins dad - some interesting stuff in here.

TDH: Tell me the current thinking about all three finalists.

Josh Mullins — “Indiana is close, so that’s one thing that stands out. I’ve known Jordan Hulls for a long time. Calbert (Cheaney), Brian Walsh and (Mike) Woodson, all those guys are great. IU is not a far drive at all, so that’s a comfort thing for Braylon too. Indiana is Indiana, man. Being from the state, playing for the state, that means a lot.

“But he’s also told me that he doesn’t care if he went 12 hours away. When you got to Storrs, Conn., it’s small. He was like ‘Hey this is like Greenfield.’ Sometimes Braylon is cool with being a rock star on the court but no so much off the court. UConn is kind of that way, and they’ve done a great job, they’re back-to-back champs. Their development of players is different.

TDH: How much are you paying attention to other guard commits at these schools, like Derek Dixon at UNC and potentially Darius Adams at UConn?

Josh Mullins — “Both of those teams have presented those guys as part of the plan. They’re still going after both because they can play both together. We know where people are going, it’s just a matter of when they’re going to say it. I don’t think Braylon is worried about it. I don’t think anybody scares us, but you also want to go in there knowing you’re going to get an opportunity. He doesn’t want to sit the bench his freshman year. He wants to play. And whoever has the best opportunity for him, that’s where he’ll go.”

Acknowledging Adams and still being in the final 3 is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear from the Mullins camp. I really appreciate posting this report, because it allows me to be much more excited about Darius' expected commitment, knowing it does not blow away our chances with Mullins. Excellent news that makes the morning coffee particularly enjoyable. Hopefully, Adams will be the bird in the hand and we can have a real hope of crushing it by getting Mullins too.

shooting is a skill that makes other players on the team better the more of it you have, if everyone is a willing and smart passer. i'm sure they've talked with mullins about how adams and his offball movement can open up time and space for mullins and vice versa. pitch reibe for a jokic sort of hub passer role too.
